Hello, I'm new here, and a guitar player, so bear with me. I had a K100 w/2x15 cab back when they first came out, stupid me sold it. Remembering it was a great amp, I just bought a K200b-1. I have the schematics I ordered here. OK, so here is the question: I was told the channel with the boost is the right "normal" side, but on mine, the left "bright" side is the one that is much louder and fuller. I've been told this is backwards, and something is wrong, but when I look at the #s on the boards this is what is there ... left "bright" side PC203, Right "normal" side PC105. Looking at the schematics the PC203 is PRE-AMP W/BOOST. So what gives, has a switcheroo been done, or am I reading things wrong ? Amp serial #42197 ... Any help is appreciated .

Welcome Ztarman! Glad to hear that you've come back the world of Kustom.
What you describe is correct for a 200B-1. The bright (left) channel has the added treble boost circuit, while the normal (right) channel doesn't. My 200B-1 is wired that way and every one that I've can ever remember working on was the same way. Check out the catalog section, maybe there are features listed somewhere in the literature.
It sounds like you know your way around a pc board. Are you a tech or just a well seasoned player?
If you search the older posts, you will find Les Strickland's serial number list where you can find out how old your amp is. And if you find the secret code numbers on your amp, you can send them to Les, to help him continue the amazing job he's been doing on serial number/dating.

Thanks Bill,
Yeah, there is a story behind what brought me back to the old Kustom amp, maybe later. No I'm not a tech, unless playing guitar 42 years qualifys me. I've learned over the years that one has to do alot of things today unless your wealthy . I just looked at the boards and first noticed that the left, bright side had twice the transisters than the right, normal side. Then I looked for anything printed on the boards and with the ability to read upside down, sideways, and backwards I deducted the necessary info . Also a short course in audio recording that included a brief intro into schematics, still can't really read them, didn't hurt. Nice to know nothing is wrong with it. I've read pretty much every post here so I found the serial # and matched mine to July-Sept 1969. I saved the old speakers out of the K100 when I sold it but they have a slight buzz on lower strings at slightly high volumes 11:00 on the dial. I want to play a bass as well as guitar through it so I've picked the Carvin PS15 for bass and Carvin GS12 and Jensen Mod 10-70 for guitar. I'm gonna build my own cabs. Wish me luck...
