Ok, I am addicted! [message #560] Tue, 22 May 2001 12:09 Go to next message

When I was first introduced to Kustoms by my brother Randy K., I owned a brand new SWR bass rig. I had the Big Ben 18" cab, and the Goliath JR II 2-10" with foster horn, and a 350 head. The 350 SWR head sucked, so I sold that and bought a new Hartke 3500 head. It thumped and I was happy........until Randy told me to bring my bass and come over to check out the Kustoms that he had just bought. ( One of which I had won on ebay from Dan for Randy. ) I went over there, firmly believing that HE was crazy for having all that "kushy stuff". Well, I played through the stuff. He twisted my arm and sent a K150-1 head home with me to try out through my speakers. Well, the next day I hooked it up and tried my best to hate it. I couldn't! I played my 6 string through it, and it sounded great for guitar too! The only thing wrong with it was that I needed something with more power for the bass jobs. I told Randy that, and he told me about the K250-1............ So, I bought one. Randy said if I didn't like it he'd buy it off me. Well, to make a long story short--I haven't sold it to him yet. I have, however, sold the Hartke, a Peavey Mark III Bass head, etc. Soon, I maybe selling some old blue face Acoustic 150 heads......... My kollection of Kustoms has grown a bit since, and I'm sure it will continue to grow. I am addicted my friends, and I admit it! I am asking you to help me, HELP ME! Help me to find a blue 250 series 2-15" cab, and a blue 200 2-15" cab, and a black (player grade) 1-15" or 2-12" cab, and a ..................................................Oh God, help me! Your friend in need, Kustom Blues

Great post and testimonial Deb...love to see it and of course have to agree..in fact I won't list all the additional amps I've owned or brought home as I've been influenced to spend my hard earneds on market hype...at the end of it all there sits one extra sweet marshall 2x12 JCM900 100 watt combo and a 65 fender showman head, and I've loaned out a PV classic...the other 20 or so rigs are all tuck n roll..they've lasted me my entire music life since I was 13, and I will play em til I die and then pass them on to a waiting generation...something about the design allows more transparent volume to come from those rigs than PV or others ever have been able to get...for me it was initially about the look, but as I've grown in my abilities and run through two decades of pedals and fx processors I've continued to find my kustoms to be great platforms on which to build the wide variety of tonal pallet that I need..rugged, reliable, great sounding, and a look that stole my heart harder than my first kiss... I'll keep my eyes open for some blue rigs for ya...in the mean time.... Play Loud...ET!

ET can tell you of the path I tread. He had a ball watching me! I have a blown Acoustic 370 that I am not interested enough in to repair at this time.....a perfect G-K r400...that I never use....I sold a nice Sunn Concert Bass rig....actually traded it on more tuck and roll. Two years ago I had one Kustom.....now I have 20...i think! The amps are Kool, Klassy, Klassic and I love the sound. However, the best part of this is the great bunch of people I have met from my association with an amp! If it is an addiction....it will not do you any harm! BC

Boy are you right about Kustoms having a transparent powerful sound. Kustoms sound alive! All of the 100 or so amps I've owned in almost 30 years of playing sounded all the same--LIFELESS ! They sounded like someone had stuffed a big old feather pillow in the speaker.... My Kustoms breathe deep and exhale the most moving sound and music that I've ever heard. Heck, it leaves me speechless! And the best part of it is, I have a grin on my face because I'm making that sound !! It's like a dream come true !!
