I just walked into a pawnshop and found a K200A-4 head and 3-15 cab in blue sparkle - had to bring it home - but only getting reverb, no vibrato, selective boost or harmonic boost; do any of these effects require the footswitch to work? Any ideas what might cause them to fail if not a footswitch problem? thanks!!!!

Its hard to say, but my first guess would be that it is somewhat foot switch jack related, you should not need a foot switch to engage those effects, but I would think that all of those effects being dead due to a circuit problem would render that whole channel dead.

I opened the amp up and looked at the f/s jack - saw a little piece of wire running from the brown wire (pin 4) to ground, just twisted on, no solder. THat was somebody hotwiring the reverb to work. So with clip leads to the other pins, I"VE GOT MY EFFECTS YEAHHHHH!! Just have to wire a footswitch now. Not too impressed with the harmonic clipper, is it just a so/so distortion?
Also, the RCA jack on the back - is that a line out? I remember reading that you could hook up a volume pedal to use the selective boost as a wah but don't see a jack for it unless the RCA is it...
thanks for the help!

I don`t know about the wah wah mod, but that RCA jack is a recording output, I never have measured its output voltage, it may be enough to drive a power amp to some extent, but to drive another amp you would likly have to pad it down.

I would disagree. I've found the RCA output is quite low. In fact, when you hook it up to another Kustom input the hiss is cumulative and gets really obnoxious. I would prefer to hook an output to the power amp without a pad and just let the input level control do it's work. You need a really high signal to noise ratio to get a good (not hissy) clean output. I think the RCA is next to useless.

BTW, I've also used that RCA jack as an input...to the Kustom power amp.

My old K-400 bass amp made a mighty fine stereo power amp for a traveling sound system (DJ system) I ran back in the 70's.

Used the two 3-15 cabinets for the low-end, and built some horn-loaded tweater cabinets to go on top.

I've heard that system is still in operation today!
