Nice one, John, very nice! One minor correction, though. The "Combo" in Combo Organ doesn't refer to built-in amp/speakers, but rather the fact that they were organs designed to be played in "Combos" - a sort of dorky name for bands in the 60s. In fact, most combo organs, have no amps or speakers at all!
Could you tell me what the numbers are on the paper tag that's below the metal ID badge?

A couple more minor corrections:
1) Schematics are free to download from my website:

2) The transistors are easily obtainable. Most of them are garden variety silicon NPN audio transistors. Any good electronics house like Mouser or Digikey or even Radio Shack should carry them. Replacing transistors in an organ is hardly considered detrimental to the value. Remember, these aren't vintage guitars!

Is the date shown as "100469", or "041069"? The date is of the form DDMMYY, European-style. I have no idea why.

do what you like, but in my opinion, after many years of dealing with combo organs and associating with combo organ players and collectors, organs that work ALWAYS sell for more than those that don't. Finding people to repair an old combo organ is difficult - a lot of techs don't know how to work on them, or can't be bothered to. Organs are different beasts from amps - if you don't know how they work, they're difficult to diagnose and repair. If you do find someone willing to do repairs, they will often be expensive, and take a long time to do (not that the repairs themselves take long, but getting the tech to actually deal with it may take a while). As we've already noted, there's a huge difference between a combo organ worth $2,000 or so, and a vintage Strat or Les Paul worth 10-20 times that. The value of the former is not going to be diminished by doing repairs and minor restoration, the latter DEFINITELY should be left alone.
Having said all that, the fact that the preamp is the only non-functional component is hardly going to affect its value. As long as all keys, notes, voices and features work properly, that's all that really matters. As you correctly pointed out, the preamp is not necessary for organ operation.
