Hi Guys! I need opinions.....I have been wanting to upgrade the speaker in my 1x15 "Nashville modified" cascade rig! JC likes the Altec 421.....Does anyone else have one of these in a 1x15 cabinet? I have thought about the black widows .....and JBLs but I have never owned an Altec! Thanks JC! BC!

Brad, I have owned two of the 115 cabinets. I sold one with the standard cts speaker. It sounded good for what it is, but the one I have now is the 115 altec, and there is a night and day difference. The cts was in a black cabinet, and the altec is in a blue cabinet,so I know there is that to consider. The altec is the best sounding cabinet for it's size I have ever heard. The bass man I was working with was speachless when he first played the amp. I have to admit, it's the first kustom amp with an altec I have owned in the 100 combo series. I do have a few of the 2x12 cabinets, one is loaded with the peavey black widow 12's, one has the cts, one has celestions, and the last one has the stock kustom speakers. For lead work I prefer the stock kustoms over any of the others and the black widows are my least favorites, doing a abcd comparision test using the same head/guitar setup. I also loaded all my K50s with JBL D120F speakers and will go back to the originals. Bottom line I think is the better speakers for bass and more the stock speakers for guitar. Don

Roy, well thank you very much for your compliment. It was a no name medium duty 12". My other two k50 have jensens and I tried the jbl in one and will go back to the jensens. I just like the sound I get with a stock medium grade speaker. I was talking to JC last night on the phone and he was commenting on all the guys were playing through the 100's and 200's, and I picked the K50. Don
