Listen up all K cabinet restorers: BAD NEWS! After many communiques with the new Kustom corp. the word from the top level management is " we have 4 or 5 sets of handles in stock that we will keep for warranty purposes. We are discontinuing the COUPE line." These handles will never be available again The only next step is to find out how many of us need handles and how many would the total be, then locate the manufacturing vendor in China and hopefully strike a deal before the molds and jigs are destroyed. Also keep in mind these newer version handles are exactly like the originals but 1/2" longer requiring careful modifications. Does anyone know of any Plastic Extrusion co. that would be willing to mold and manufacture a few hundred of these plastic handle inserts? Without these fresh handles our restorations will never really be complete. David

I don't know, but while we're on the topic, didn't Vibroworld used to sell a Gibson replacement handle that was just like the old Kustoms, except the insert was clear? Anyone know what happened to those?

I believe that those were made by the same company that made the original Kustom handles. They stopped production years ago.
I used to get those from the luggage place in Ohio, but they ran out a long time ago.
Wasn't Pleat working on having aluminum replacement handle inserts made?

Yes, I heard he was but aluminum wont get past the serious collector. While I am here guys does anyone know why my screen does not show the 6 colored amp heads at left? I can't view fabrics and the other options available there. Thanx. David

Links to the webboard don't show the stuff on the main site. You have to just go to www.vintagekustom.com.
I personally wouldn't worry too much about whether replacement handles were original or aluminum repros. Remember, we're not talking about $30,000 vintage Strats & Les Pauls here. If a Kustom speaker cab with rusty or broken handles would fetch, say, $300, I doubt replacing them with nice looking aluminum repros would alter the price that much. In fact, if you included the original handles as well, it would probably improve the price, although it might not be enough to cover the cost of the handles themselves!

I just got 4 handles from Monument Music that arrived Thursday...Aaron there said they can only get small quantities and I cleaned them out of what they had... Keep in touch with Monument. I am sure Aaron would get you on a contact list If you need handles.
As far as I know ..what was being planned for handle inserts were plastic not Aluminum.... Aluminum paints well though which should satisfy most for cosmetics..Still waiting on word from the producer for costs and time... I'd take 20 inserts to start myself.
