Hi - just found this site/forum and registered today. I have drivers for the Model 303 PA cabinets for sale - I will also sell the cabs if I can - probably locally here in Jackson, MS. I have these drivers listed on Ebay and so far no takers. If someone here wants to buy these, I would be happy to sell them via this forum. Not sure what they are worth, but they seem to be in excellent shape and working as they should. Please let me know if you are interested.

Huge detailed pix posted out on the Ebay auctions:

What color and condition are the cabinets in that you removed the speakers and horns? Are there still handles, logos, casters, port tubes, and brackets ava? I might be interested in the ports, and handles. There are collectors in your area. Unfortunatly I'm in Michigan

Hi Pleat - Cabs are Black. Some tears here and there in the covering 1/4" to 1.5" - worst are in the bottom front where the covering is kinda ate up. On the 2 cabs, there are 2 good handles - the other two are missing the plastic inserts. The casters are mostly shot - of the 8 that are on the cabs, there are 3 or 4 that still have bearings - others are shot and 1 is missing outright. All logos and badges are intact on both cabs and in fine shape. Ports are in EXC cond - no cracks and the brackets that hold them in place are intace and seem fine.

Also: I have the matching Model 300 6 Channel PA Amplifier and it works great and is in Good to Very Good condition both electronically and cosmetically (the two handles on it are EXC as is the face and all knobs.

If you know about the relative value of the drivers to collectors (I suspect you might) can you advise if my Ebay auctions are priced appropriately? Also: if you can give me or direct me to specifications for the KEI 15"'s and the Model 303 Horns that would be MUCH appreciated.

Shawn.

It sounds like the cabs can be fixed without a lot of problems. Super glue works wonders to close the tears. On how you have the items priced, that is completely up to you and how long you want to wait get your price. The drivers are EV drivers. The horn bells, are altecs. The problem is not many people want old school horns, and then have to build boxes to house them. The drivers have a simple capacitor as the cross over network. The KEI speakers were Kustom Electronics Inc brand. Are there still covers for the cabinets? If you want to email me at djt@chartermi.net I can give you some prices and then you can make your decision. I prefer not to do pricing on a open forum.

Hi Pleat - Roger on the super glue - done that trick before on various things - no covers for the cabs. That would be nice. ARe you saying the KEI 15's were made by Electro-Voice? and the horns are Altec Lansing????? If true, that is DEFINITELY something I'd want to state in my auctions. I know the Model 304's and 305's had JBL's in them - was wishing mine did as those drivers are precious these days. I'll shoot you a private email later today regarding pricing, thanks for the feedback sir.

Shawn.

The bells are Altec and the speakers are Kustoms own brand that they assembled at the factory. They purchased the componets from vendors and did the assembly in house.

The speakers that you have in the auction look like Eminence parts to me. The big square magnet structure looks just like the Eminence drivers that were common in earlier Kustom and other brand amps.

Chicagobill, you may be right. I was looking at those speakers and some CTS speakers I have and the magnets look identical. I know they were buying from vendors and doing the assembly of the speakers and also doing the re-cones, so they could be Eminence, CTS or just about any other brand. They just glued the metal KEI plate on the magnet.
The thing I did find interesting is the 15"s are labeled 8 ohms. The kustom speaker chart I have that shows individual impedance and total cabinet inpedance shows the 303 cabinet as a 4 ohm total load cabinet. So two cabs would present a 2 ohm load to the K300 PA. Yet the speaker jacks suggest a 3-4 ohm total load. I'm sure you can shed some light on the fact that the 16 ohm drivers play some importance as far as load. I remember something about the frequencys will share the load. When the high's go to the horn presents a load and when the frequencies are below the horn cutoff point then the driver is resting. Kind of like a two piston engine. when one is firing the other is resting. I know I'm not explaining very well. Bob Brinkman explained the concept to me, but that was about 40 years ago.

Hello - I still have the cabs but have very likely sold the badges, handles, ports, caster plates, jack assy's off of them. Are you going want the cabs with those parts not included?

Thanks for writing back - I do not think that I would be interested in them without all of the hardware. I am looking for some cabinets to go with my (2) K200 heads.
