Hello,
I just bought a K100-2 Gold piggyback all original at a tag sale, I knew it didnt work when I bought it but didnt care because Ive always repaired my own amps and because it was in mint conditon (No tears, No Cig burns or discoloring) with original jensens
2-12.. when I turn it on the fuse blows instantly..so I took the chassis out and there was a huge nest from mice inside (HUGE) and the wires were eaten through and shorted.. I replaced all the wires and turned it on and it powered up fine and was powerful..(BUT) it has a Fuzz sound..the reverb and trem work great.. I checked the speakers with a old fender and they sound really great..does this Fuzz (Distortion) sound like a common problem?..before I dig into it I thought I would run it by this forum...any ideas would help......Thanks so much

This is not a common problem, and if the amp has good punch and volume then problem probibly it is not in the driver or output stage. I would make sure the +8 volts and -8 volts powering the preamp section is good, but after that its just a matter of appling a test signal and stepping thru the stages with a scope ot find out where the distortion originaltes.

I have a k200 that had a mouse city in it, there collective piss ate two 1 1/4 inch holes in the chassie near the power transformer!!

OK Paul, the gloves are off. I have had my order in for a K100 for months now. Actually May 24. Check the "Wanted" board. There are very few out there and the ones that are, are not on the market. Period. If one comes available, let's not beat each other up and jack the price into the stratisphere. OK
Conrad
PS. I have a Cascade and a Blue.

OK Steve. Where is Axe in Hand? Where is this ad? Silver is on my hit list. I am close enough to IL to check it out if it is in the North. $800 though, I may have to sell the wife.
Conrad
PS I would still have to kick in a couple of hundred. Laughing

Hey guys, can't we all just get along? There must be enough K100's out there for everyone.

Axe In Hand is located in the beautiful town of DeKalb, Illinois (about 60 miles West. of Chicago). The store opened back in the early 70's, while I was attending college in DeKalb. The original owner passed away a few years ago, but I understand that his son is now running the store.

They were a vintage dealer back when vintage meant used.

Who's not getting along? I'm just willing to wrestle anyone for a red K100 that's all. Where's the anamosity? Even football players can shake hands after a grueling loss. Green Bay comes to mind. OUCH!!!!! Crying or Very Sad

Conrad, how long have you and your wife been together? did you have a prenup? These days only a couple hundred is pretty cheap.

No I guess that wouldn't work, would it? 35 years. She's very supportive. It has nothing to do with that. I just need the money. Very Happy

I know. I dropped a grand into my truck to get it back in safe operating condition. That's my haul truck for the Kustom Trailer. So, if this silver K100 is available, and it has to be a 9-10, I am hard pressed to divert the funds. I guess I won't be eating for the next 6 months or so. Hey, my weight loss program just got easier! Steve, how did you find out about these amps. DeKalb is nowhere near you. I am only 100 miles away or so. I might have to do a short road trip very soon. OH SH*T! Shocked I'm in Mexico right now. That might be tough. What info do you have? I am more than slightly interested.

I found them in Vintage guitar magazine that I get monthly.
Might as well enjoy some taco`s while your down that way if your gonna go 6 months on water and air!
Old tuck -n-roll marinated in lime juice, then grilled is what my ex wife used to make me eat.
