I'm sure this gets asked all the time but I'm going to be really descriptive. About a year ago I bought a kustom amp out of the window of a guitar shop. It hadn't been used since the early 70's because the reverb went out and the owners girlfriend jabbed the speakers with a pool cue. The owner didn't want to spend the money for speakers because the reverb wasn't working but He didn't want to throw it away so he kept it in his closet till his friend the shop owner opened the store up. He put the amp in the front window because of the tuck-and-roll look but never looked into fixing it . I guess I was the only person to ask if he was selling it because they had never thought about how much it was worth. They said $200. I said 200 with 4 new speakers. They gave me a brand new set of Peavey Blue Marvel 8 ohm speakers and I took the amp home. I pulled it apart and the only problem with the reverb was two wires came unsoldered. I blew all the dust out of it while I was in there (there wasn't much actually!) cleaned out the pots and have been using it ever since. I don't know when it was made but it's serial # is 51027 The model # is K100C8. Hand written on the inside front of the head is 75 75 4 2B0/17G 4 with an Xover the last #4. Four input jacks, jack in the back for external speakers, jack for footswitch (I'm using a Peavey two button footswitch and it works fine) Blue light on the front, original glide feet, original handles with a little spotting but if you scratch with a fingernail that stuff comes off. NO TEARS AT ALL in the tuck-n-roll. The vinyl is perfect and I know that's a matter of opinion but I'm telling you for a fact that there are no flaws at all in the upholstery. Four holes in the grille cloth, one in front of each speaker, all smaller than a dime, (pool cue, remember?). The amp's black which I understand is the most common color but hey, I let my friend's band use this amp at a couple of clubs they played and it stood it's own with anything else there and I give it a workout every day. All the effects work, all the jacks work, no scratchy knobs, no nothing. So, what have I got. I'm not looking to sell it, but I do live in a 3rd floor apt now and I've had people approach me with a few interesting trade offers so what do you all think? What do you think it's worth? I want to hang onto it, but you never know. By the way I used info from this site to diagnose the reverb problem and repair it. Thanks to the people out there who posted and helped me out. I was ready to spend 30 bucks on a new reverb tank but I was able to keep the original for the cost of the solder!

hey Jake...always enjoy hearing stories of the cool finds and with the speaker change out you looks like you did well. A black SC100 in clean shape can pull around $300. If it were me, I'd probably go ahead and regrill it..the clothe is cheap and its not a hard job..about an hour one evening in front of your favorite TV show and you'll have a fresh looking amp...if it were a sparkle rig..more like $450 - $500...those are great sized amps...they can hang on stage with a drummer and are large enough to make a visual statement, while still fitting in the back seat of your car..congrats on the find..Play Loud! I'm a Kustom nut so I'd probably just keep it. But its your amp. Some people actually like the black better than the colors as it looks cool, is a little easier to keep clean, and goes with any thing. Its just a personal taste thing.
