hello I have a k100 mod 47448 brought over from the states by a friend, it was built for the American Voltage system, so I put a step down transformer from 240v to 115v everything works well, although I now get a lot of buzzing, I would like to put a replacement transformer that goes straight from my 240 v supply into the amp and do away with the other two... so what i require is any information on the output of the American transformer which has 5 wires to it ..obviously power in are two, so i am presuming that two of the others are for one voltage and the remaining wire is for a smaller voltage to the pcb ? or is it an earth, I guess what I am really after is a wiring diagram the the amp model is 47448 on the pcb it has written KE1-1 - PC 104 its a lovely old amp from 1969 and i really do not want to cook it, thanks for any help in advance..
Simon

Hello.
Since you did not mention it in your post I will assume that the K100 still has its orignal 2 wire power cord with out a ground prong, your AC 240 volt power system in the UK is, and has been devised with a ground for a long time, unlike us here in the USA.
There is two ways to fix this ground buzz issue, and both ways involve the use of a ground power cord to the amp.
With what you have now you can install a grounded power cord and the ground leg of the cord gets bolted down to the chassis somewhere, then the cap off of the power on/off switch gets cut out and your done.
If you choose to just install a new PT that has a 240 volt primary winding then this is how the secondary side gets wired, which id just like the original.
The PT you need has 3 wires, one being a center tap of the two main voltage feed wires just like the orignal, theis center tap wire gets hooked up just like the original at the common feed point across the two big main power filters.
One fellow how did a post rececntly about replacing his PT in k100 used a Antec model AN2330, this is the volt/amp spec PT you need and in fact in may have a 240 winding, if not then you need a PT with the same spec`s and a 240 volt winding on the primary side.
