Hello I am a new Kustom owner.. Its kinda cool but I have a few questions if I may.
first the info -
it looks like it has never left the house.. has only 3 very small scuffs on the lower corner of one cab and 1 on the edge of the other.. the black tuck and roll looks like what was in my '65 Galaxy XL I had in the 70s. not dull not shiny just a little sheen... the handles on the head and speakers look new still.. as does the grill cloth and it has Naugahyde Dust covers that have the Kustom logo on them in silver.. for the two towers and the head..the inside of the cover for the head has printing on it just barely visible and looks like it has the shape of the badges that are on both cabs that say Kustom. with the number 71 in a circle..they look like 4x12 column speakers 2 of them.. and the head is the 200 PA head.. ok here are the numbers can some one help me with date and such..
and any other info you may know on these??

Speaker cabs both say CTS pat number - 210.129 on a little metal tag on the lower center at the input
Serial on one is 24601 and the other is 24706...
every thing looks like it is only a few years old.. boy I only wish it was a guitar amp lol
other question... if i save the metal dome speakers and replace them with 1 guitar speaker bottom, 12" woofer a mid and twetter fitted to plywood panels that screw into the original speaker holes so i do not destroy any original holes and such on the Speaker Baffles..
could I use this for a KB amp set up and guitar? also do the funky chrome stands for the heads ever pop up for sale anywhere?? if so what would be considered a good price for the head stand?

Welcome to the site.
You can easily remove the baffle boards from the speaker cabs (the board that holds the speakers. You have to do it in this order to do it though. 1 remove back and remove input jack from back. 2 remove top and bottom board that the back screws onto it is about a 3/4 by 2" with 3 -4 screws in it. This allows you to get the baffle board out. 3 I leave the cab standing up and remove the nuts that go around the outside edge of the baffle board (7/16 socket) if I remember correctly.
Then some times these are stuck in there pretty good and you have to break them loose and I tend to use the palm of my had in an upper corner or edge (do not use the middle or you will damage the grill cover material). once it is loose you have to begin to slide it back evenly and once it just gets to the end of the studs begin to turn it so one side is going to go out first and you can remove the entire thing with the speakers on it.
Now is the time to remove the speakers and clean the grill cloth too. I use simple green ans a soft bristle scrub brush and my hose, some use a power washer or the car wash to rinse theirs. simple green the front of the grill cloth and scrub up and down and side to side and then rinse and let set in the sun and dry. They will look just like brand new.
At this point you can make new baffle boards and use any speaker configuration that you want, however, you have to be mindful of the ohm rating that you will be throwing at the head. If you get the right ohm rating speakers and wire them correctly you will be golden.
You will not find the rack for the head offered hardly ever, they go for big money when they are offered. If someone had a mandrel bender, they should make a few hundred of each and sell them.
The K200-5 head gives you a lot of options as it is a PA head and should have reverb you can use it for vocals, guitar or bass. It will be deadly LOUD and they take pedals very very well. If you have a multi effect pedal unit, you are going to love this thing.

At one time, eBay seller "optimystic23" had a number of the Kustom PA stands. He got them in a huge lot of stuff he bought from a defunct music store somewhere in AZ or NM(I forget which, always get those two confused). Anyway, He's sold most of it by now, but he may have a few stands left - you could contact him through ebay and ask.

thank you pleat.. as I stated in the first post.. I want to convert the columns so they can do better P/A duties for vocal and acoustic guitar and Keyboard.< 3way.. then a guitar speaker like Celestion for the forth on each cab with a seperate input just for that speaker to run only for guitar.. that is what I'm thinking anyway... that way i have the WAY cool TNR look on stage... I love the look of these columns...
what I can't decide is are they ever going to be worth enough where I might someday regret not saving the original speakers to put back in.. I generally do not hord stuff or collect.. so that is why i'm thinking of selling the original speakers so i will not have them stored in my garage for no reason... do any people ever want the original speakers to restore old cabs? and if so what would be a good price for me to ask on e-bay to see them go fast and both me and the buyer get a good deal of it?
but again are these Vintage enough to where I should leave them alone as someday they might be worth real money?? I got the whole package for less than I payed for one of the Duncan pickups in one of my Strats.. so to me they are just some cool old great condition cool looking stuff that is a bit laking in sound... but if they are really something i just lucked into a great deal on, and should leave alone I would like to know..

Steve, he wants to build the cabs with a three way PA section and a separate single 12" driver for guitar. Which leads to the question of how well that would work. I don't know what your plan is, but it makes for an interesting concept. I'd put the PA section on top for best projection and the guitar speaker at the bottom.
The internal volume of the cabinet is small for most applications, but with the space freed up by reducing the size of two of the speakers, you may be able to get a fairly decent sound out it. I don't know if you will need to install a separation baffle inside the cabinet to isolate the PA section from the guitar section or not, but it would probably help you get the most out of both sections of the cabinet if you did install one.
As for the question regarding collectible value, PA cabs are the least valued of all of the speaker cabs out there. If you did try and sell the original speakers, there probably would be little interest from Kustom collectors, but there will be people that want older speakers for different projects. And of course once you have modified the original cabs their value will drop as well.

thnx guys and Chicagobill as well.. you hit the nail on the head i was thinking of a baffle to separate the two sections in the cabs..
the Beauty I see in it is only carrying two speaker cabs to gigs instead of 4.. a great Swampthang Speaker on the bottom of each for electric feed from my Soldano head and a baffled 3 way section for Vocals,when I do electric with my Modeling pedal, Acoustic guitar and keyboard.. sure would be an easier setup for me than what I do now.. I have been trying to come up with ways to reduce my back line footprint and all I need to carry.. hence also the modeling pedal.. before the modeling pedal my backline for electric guitar was a Fender Deluxe reverb, Soldano-slo, and Vox Ac-30. with amp switching on my pedal board.. I only have one guys that helps me load out an in.. so less would be nice.. lol
well I'm gonna try the experiment this week.. by cutting new baffles to put in with the other speakers.. I'll share how it turns out...
and thank you for helping me decide the value it was hard trying to on ebay as there a too many speculative fools... one is trying to sell the same system i have in way beat shape for $1200.00 lololol
I'm thinking if I list the old but way fresh sounding speakers for say 25.00 each that might be fair..
but after looking at all your pics I am searching now for a Kustom TnR tube head and cab lolol

wow those are way cool looking TnR cabs.. when I was that age early 70s we all had Hiwatts or Marshalls for guitar (early metal) and Bose for PA... But I now for the last 15 or so years have mellowed a bit.. lol mostly Rock,blues,-ish... and a few of our old Heavy metal songs from the 70s-80s ... I do not tour anymore and just play locally mostly.. and I'm digging the Retro 60s look of the TnR Kustoms..
the Kustom PA system I have now was a fluke.. I actually won it on a bet from a past band mate/friend.. the old custom he had in his garage and 40.00 that "she" would not take him up on it..
not only did he find out he had lost the young chick appeal in a bar if not recognized with the band but also lost his old cherry PA for $40.00..

You had mentioned that you have a 4 channel mixer that you wanted to hook up to the K200 head. I wouldn't advise going from the outputs of the mixer to the channel inputs of the K200. I have a power amp input jack installed on the back panel which would allow you to use the Kustoms 4 inputs and also the channels on your external mixer.
