Hey Shaun,
To see the brochure go to "Literature/Other T & R/Combos"

It is a combo amp.

I had a Charger with a JBL and it weighed ~91 lbs.
The Sidewinder is smaller than the Charger.

Hey, I thought you had a Charger...

Thekid emailed, begging for a cab. He can buy the one without any casters. Tomorrow I'm picking up one with casters... one goes out, one comes in ^_^

The Hustler looks like 100% pure stomping power... Just waiting to hear back from him/her (krishna...). Supposedly the person has another few T&R pieces floating around... There's a 3X15 to be had, as well... I doubt I'll ever have the massive collection like some people have on here, but as they say... one piece at a time =)

I will call the guy this evening when I get off work.... I think the cab back is replaced or painted and the handle is missing the insert. Will have him send some more detailed pix and maybe then give him an offer.. Last one I saw sold for less than 200 and it was a JBL and was all there and it was close enuf to drive to pickup... I was broke then... Sad

who, thekid? He says he wants something local... which I can absolutely positively understand...

The 2x10 has someone interested in it... I really thought I could get the vintage police sirens for it, but gah... If he has something interesting Kustomwise, it's a go. Otherwise I'll hang onto it. I have a lot of stuff in and out... I'm also unloading a Boss ME-30 effects pedal. Winderloo guitar went out, bought a 70's classic Hondo that looks like a Black Beauty...

I wish everyone here would do what I did and scream "I Kollect Kustoms" and see what pops up from the back of the garage or somewhere in mom's attic...

I have sold a couple of the sidewinders new back in the early 70's. Both were JBL loaded and the sidewinder name badge stated JBL just left of the mounting screw under the winder part of the word sidewinder. So if it does have a JBL it was added after it was shipped from the factory. The aluminum dust cap looks more like a Altec dust cap, I'd want to see a photo of the speaker with the back off. It also looks like the back has been replaced. Not a bad price for what it is, but I don't trust the SS series amps. They used a round 10 pin IC that looks like a transistor and hasn't been made since 1975 and no replacement according to Bob Brinkman kustoms chief tech from the beginning of kustom amps. Brad C found a guy who can reverse engineer the circuit board to get them to work again. I had a challenger that needed the IC and the amp now is used for an endtable.

An endtable? lol... I figured the 400 would be used as a coffee table if it didn't work!

These are probably the most collectible amps I've ever seen. I know some collect the Fenders, but I don't think their collectors have as much passion as some of us...

I had been wondering about seeing if a socketed replacement board to replace the IC circuit could be made. If one could be made to replace the circuitry in the Ic then maybe we could replace those "non-functional" endtables with something useful..
Sure makes Plexi amps more desireable!!!!

Shaun, that charcoal K100-1 115 cabinet does not have a horn in it. It was sold a few weeks back to a fellow collector I know in Parsons KS. It kind of looks like it might have a horn but it was the way to photo was taken. Oh, by the way it is in mint condition and for 250 was a great deal.

The IC looks like a metal case 1/4" diameter transistor but has 10 leads coming out of it. A socket probably could be found, the problem is the IC hasn't been made since 1975. Once it's gone the amp is pretty much an endtable. BC said he found someone that can reverse engineer the circuit board, but I don't know the cost and that's why I stay away from any of SS series amps.
I prefer the plexi face amps, simple design, individual transistors through out the amp, and I like the tone of them over the slant metal face amps. Having been a dealer, we saw a lot more problems with all the slant metal face amps in the short time kustom offered them over the plexi face kustoms, and the plexi face amps were offered a lot longer and sold in greater volumes.

I pulled my old kustom Sidewinder that is not working out of the closet to revisit after my initial post here. The tuck and roll looks good. The back panel is there as well as the reverb tank which is wrapped in the naugahyde. Unfortunatley the original speaker has been replaced. It wasn't the JBL. There was a brand new peavey scorpion installed aroung the time the amp crapped out. I'll try and upload some pics here tonight. I am in Massachusetts. Would anybody be interested in buying this amp?

Why, hello in MA! Yes, I am interested if the $$$ is right... starting to get motivated about getting my Ph.D., so if you're willing to let it go to a young, starving grad student, I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands =0)
