I have (2) 2X15 JBL cabinets that I want to use with the K200B-1 head. When I restored the first cabinet, it had (2) D140Fs marked "8 ohms".
Later, I found another identical (I thought) D140F cabinet and when I opened it up to clean/restore it, I was surprised to find the speakers said "16 ohms" on them. Neither cabinet looked like it had ever been opened and everything inside looked original. Now I don't know whether I can use both cabinets, or look for another match so that they present an identical load to the head. Can I rewire one/both cabinets for simultaneous use with this head? If so, will I always have to use both cabinets after that? Did Kustom produce two versions of this cabinet??

I once had a 2 x 12 Kustom cabinet with mismatched speakers. It was OK for home use if you weren’t too fussy. I had the loudest one on top. But in my case, it was not good for stage use as you don’t get much output out of the higher impedance speaker – the sound and projection were comparable to playing a 2x12 with only one speaker installed.
Also, Mike you should measure those JBLs with an ohm meter, they could have been reconed with a different impedance kit - for example the 16 ohm ones could have been reconed as 8's.

I made a math mistake yesterday.A 16 ohm and a 8 ohm in parralle is 5.3 ohms, So both cabs wired like that would let you have the full 1oo watts RMS when you used a single. But to use 2 you will have to make up a short cable or box to put both cabs in serise, and have about a 10 ohm set up.You will loose some wattage, but the added SPL level of 4-15s should make up for it.The only other way to do it would be to put 2 16 ohms wired for 8 ohms in one cab, and then 2 8 ohms wired in serise for 16 ohms in another cab. Then when running both you would have 5.3 ohms. But eitheir cab seperate will never get you max watts.Yes when you bought a Kustom with 4-15s they where 16 ohm units.Sorry for the mistake, I was too pressed for time yesterday!
