Howdy everyone, I back again with many, many new toys. Pleat is right, you can never have enough Kustom's, or Peavey's, Acoustic's, Fender's, Hamonnd's, and Leslie's. Think you get the idea, there's always room for one more.
I just got ahold of a copy of the original Kustom 200 with reverb model 2 instruction manual. It contains general information, operation procedures, circuit description, test procedures, complete wiring diagram, and parts list with description, symbol number and part number. This covers board numbers PC105, PC303, and PC703. 16 page manual.
Anyone interested in having a copy, I'll make you one and send it to you for $15.00....shipping is included. Contact me thru private messaging if interested and I will get it right out to you.
If anyone has any Kustom manuals, I'd be interested in buying copies as well.

Just wanted to give a public shout out to IowaBoy. I asked him for a pdf copy of the manual and just wanted to say that true to his word he emailed me a copy at no charge. Thanks again IowaBoy, it's nice to have for reference.
I must also say that I did not feel that his asking $15.00 for a printed and mailed copy was out of line considering the cost of paper, ink, mailing envelope and postage. I also feel he did right by the group by offering the copy electronically free. That I feel is the true spirit of the group and this site...Vintage Kustom lovers sharing tips, knowledge, and information in an effort to help each other out. Again I feel it is a privilege to be a member of this site.

I'd be interested in hearing an informed opinion about that as well. I have a lot of free schematics on my website, but they're all from companies that are either defunct, or who have explicitly granted me permission to post them. Gibson and Fender were both accomodating, but Yamaha would not permit me to post them for free. Yet there's an eBayer selling photocopies of Yamaha manuals every day, and they do nothing about it - and I've pointed it out to them a couple of times.

I would think in this case, as the information is not being provided for profit, that the fair use doctrine of copyrightt law would be in play. Also in providing a copy of something the original author should be credited. From what I have read and seen the Kustom name on the various documents would meet that requirement. Note I am not an attorney, nor am I an expert in copyright law. At one point in time I was the CIO for an international publisher of STEM materials and sat in on many discussions between the authors and the publisher regarding information they might have referenced or incorporated in their manuscripts. I also know that we provided a copy of every published document to the Library of Congess.

I've never heard...not from a reliable source, anyway...anything about profit or the potential for profit coming into play in a copyright case until/unless it's been adjudicated that there was infringement, and even then, it's only used to determine the amount of the penalty and/or compensation. The standard is "making available to a reasonably-seized circle of family and friends". And where it regards the internet, judges don't look at how likely or unlikely a group larger than that might conceivably become aware of the unauthorized item; "available" is "available".
The only thing there might be to worry about here would be: is there anyone who'd WANT to sue you for putting copies of these old manuals out there? I mean, there are companies who put warnings on their printed material that say they'll sue you just for making ANY photocopy, even for your own use, even though you purchased the original (of course, they'd have to find out about it first), but these are old Kustom manuals we're talking about.
Even if you did have reason to be concerned, you'd only know it for certain if you received a "cease and desist" letter, and after that, you'd have a full 90 days to comply; they couldn't go after you in court for anything you did anytime before the end of that grace period.
