i am working on a K300 with a bad (cuts out) master volume potentiometer. it is a CTS mfg # 133-0020-00-137-7130, stamped around the circumference of the pot. what value should i replace it with and should i by-pass the on/off switch if i can't locate the proper value pot with the switch funtion? any help would be much appreciated. have a blessed day,
lite'nin

Hi, the K300 schematic can be had from this sites technical section for 10 dollars, but if you un-solder the pot and measure across its outer lugs (left and right) you will be able to tell its value with out a problem, as its the wiper (center lug) that is intermitant.
As far as the swt goes, if you get full size pot like the original, you can unfold the 4 tangs that hold the case to the pots face, remove the new case, and re-install the old case with the swt on it.
You only need make sure that on putting the old case on the new face, that the wiper is somewhere on its carbon track, other wise you may jam and lock up the pots rotation.

Hi Steven,
Thank you again for your advice, I replaced the pot with a 100K (temporary) one and left the switch wires "open" as it is a normally closed switch. The higher value pot works fine, but I don't want to either turn it all the way "down" or over half-way (150 degrees) up. I'll sign up for pay-pal and buy the schematics, it's an excellent investment. I realize that my repair is only temporary and we are only going to use the amp on Sundays.
God Bless,
lite'nin
