I have recently purchased a Kustom Tuck and Roll Cab... The Model tag says it's a TR212..

It's the Horizontal 2 X 12 Guitar Speaker Bottom...

Is there anyway I can tell when this cab was built or approx how old it actually is??

Thanks

George

It is a newer China made Kustom cabinet. I know they offered them in the early 2000's.

The tr212 is part of the so called re-issue T&C line that came out in late 99 and is not a vintage cabinet, in fact as far as true vintage Kustom speaker cabinets go they only offered a 2-12" set up in combo amps.
I have a TR412 cab and there is a tag on its back like yours should have also that you can determin the cabs production date from.

I just checked the Literature section on this site and Kustom made a K150 piggy back amp with 2-12's in it. It's listed in the catalog showing the K150 line. I also thought there was a 2-12 piggy back rig in the K100 line, but I haven't found it in the catalogs yet.

I thought the K150's were considered "vintage".

I've seen a early red 2x12 vertical cabinet that is 11 T&R across the top that matches the Frankie head. I've also seen a picture of a early laydown 2x12 with a Frankie head sitting on top. http://www.kustomcollector.com/id28.html shows the vertical 2x12 in the rare section. These would have been made during the early Frankie era. Kustome did make the vertical 2x12 cabinets that were 10 T&R wide in the piggyback K100 series and the later slant face K150 series. The TRT212 is not a vintage original cabinet. The TRT212 may have dual 1/4" input jacks on the back and should have where it was made. The TRT is roll and pleat, not tuck and roll.
