Thought I owed it to ya'll... this thread is dedicated to the better sounding and looking kustoms...the sparklers....I've done some tests myself..and darn if ya'll ain't right...the black ones don't sound as good...and heck ya can't even see em on stage...I've secretly run Jake's red amp into a db meter against my black rigs...and man was I surprised...it took 3 black rigs to register the same volume as his red..and still they didn't have that shimmer...that sonic...dare I say it...sparkle!...I tell ya guys...you being my pals and all...if there's ever anything I can do to help you ...kinda return the favor for making me aware of the black amp problem... I have some storage space here at home if you need to unload any black amps.. I completely understand and am willing to put myself out to help with this peculiar problem. Just because I'm stuck with my investment doesn't mean you have to be...ET! oh and my wife says that the reds and the golds definitely sound the best...she thinks the blues are probably closer to the black in tone...

ET,
Such a noble individual ! Willing to endure the burden of storing countless Black amps for the good of his friends . . . I would be remiss in not offering my assistance to help you out. If you get flooded with amps, I would certainly be willing to store a few JBL cabs, perhaps the odd "2-10 plus 1-15" cab and maybe a B-6 Selectone head just to make space. Just feel free to call on me.

sounds like a good name for a band.... The Kats....I have this cousin named Josie...not much of a singer...but everyone says she's got a cute tail....ouch...where's the backspace key...that really sucked...hey ya'll wish me luck...Jake and I are heading out on a road trip in the morning...have been told there is an old wide panel head to match my no port cab, a 100 head to go with my lonely 2x12 ross cab...and a nice little 3x12 plus 200 rig...what?...well...black of course!...holding my breath(ooh..nice blue sparkles...) til i see the condition...told they are nice..but clean 3x12s seem to be far and few between so I'm really anxious about this one..short drive..and no shipping...the only way to get the big cabs....well then there's BC..but i'd have to buy a new car of i went on one of his road trips...update tommorrow nite on the goodies...pray for Jake..he's going up to check on this guys 2x12 100 rig...glad I've got a big van...hehehe

Road Trip...and more black!! Jake held his own today...and showed great restraint...I thought he was gonna fold when we stopped at Chip Coleman's place...such a cool store!..several interesting kustoms there too...then on up to visis Pastor Dave and see his collection...nice gear...all 2x12s..a minty cascade, a real nice charcoal, a clean black one...and everything else came home with yours truly... I now am in possession of a nice 3x12 200 guitar rig...got my little 100 head I've been needing...and acquired an old wide panel head to match that no port cab I picked up in Nashville...nice haul for one day fer sure...and believe this if you will boys...but it actually completes my life long dream rigs...what's in my house right now is the culmination of many a restless night...course there's always a black organ...and maybe some 4x10 columns..black of course...I can now sit back and enjoy the hunt as an arm chair qtr back...knowing that all the other kustoms of the world will be in the best of hands...thanks to Jake for the company today...and to David for a fair and honest deal....

Good one Jimm ! Ha-Ha !
You know, in reading all these posts it occur's to me that we ( at least the 10 of us that were in Nashville ) kollectively could produce over 500 pieces at the next reunion if we could all be there with our gear. Can you imagine that ? It boggles the mind. What a site that would be. WOW !

I agree, that would require a fish eye lens to get a group pic. Of course if we only brought the black rigs, I think jimm would feel left out. (jimm I have proof kustom did indeed make a few black models, ET can vouch for me) I would vote Chanute, for a meeting place, put casters on every piece and have a two mile long parade down main street.
