Hi all/I just picked up 2 old black tuck kustom bass bottoms in fair shape. One bottom has 2 JBL d140's in it.They are 16ohms speakers so the cab is 8 ohms. The others has JBL M1-15 in it.They are 8 ohms each.So the cab is wired to 4 ohms.Is their any way to make that cab 8 ohms.I hear it is not good to run 2 different cabs that have different ohms is it.Thanks for any help.ROCKBOB

Hello. This situation depends on what you are going to be powering them with. If you are using a K200, then you may run into a few problems. If you use a K400 or a modern stereo power amp, you should be just fine if each cabinet is on its own independent channel.

I am using a 200-a kustom head and or acoustic 140 bass head also.If one bottom is 8 ohms and the other 4 ohms using both would make it what.I did a quick try and the 4 ohm bottom is louder.Seems it would not be good for the head.THANKS ROCKBOB

Hi, the only thing you can do to run 2 cabs off the kustom head would be to put one 8 ohm and one 16 ohm in each cab wired in parallel, to get 5.3 ohms each, then you need to make a cord to put both cabs in series and get 10.6 ohms. make note of one thing, on JBL speakers you need to test the polarity of them with a nine volt battery to confirm which terminal is the positive one. The small terminal of a 9 volt is the positive, so which ever hook up on the speaker makes the cone move out is the way to place the hot lead. most JBLs are non-standard so just make sure.
