Hello y'all,
My brother just gave me a black tuck 'n roll Kustom Charger 1x15 bass combo. Thus far, I've been an SWR and Gallien Krueger man but, boy, this amp sounds SWEET and just reeks of old school warmth. The tuck 'n roll has enough mojo to make it interesting. The model number on the back panel is 28-B. The serial number is 95903. I have a few questions:
1) Can anyone tell me the year that this amp was made based on the model and/or serial number?
2) I popped the back off and saw that there is a JBL M-1 speaker in it. I can only assume that this was an aftermarket installation...or is it? If it is, what speaker was stock on these models.
3) Most solid state bass amp manufacturers of that era would design their amps' sound after popular tube amps of the day (who said "modeling" amps are a new concept). Does anyone know what amp Kustom modeled their bass amps, especially this amp, after (Fender Bassman, Ampeg B-12, Ampeg B-15, etc.)?
Big Ben
