power transformer [message #2251] Mon, 23 December 2002 22:03 Go to next message

I just got a k100-2 head, pots date it to 68. Somebody changed the power transfomer and it's putting out a little more voltage than it should, which is making noise when it is at idle. Does anyone know were to get a replacement, there are no markings on the tranformer currently in the head., thanks

Depending on how much voltage you need to drop you could put in some zener diodes off of the positive and negative rails of the power supply. they can go in series to get the needed amperage and voltage drop.Just make sure install the end with the cathode facing the right way for the power supply rail you are putting it on. This will be much cheaper than a new power transformer and you will have a more stable power supply as a added plus. (less distortion more watts!)
