just won a couple nice lil treasures..some kustom you don't often see..the pair of PA horns in black cabs...only they weren't a pair..they were 2 seperate auctions..so I knew going in I was setting myself up for some abuse..and it was also tipped off by the seller (a savy power seller) starting a no reserve at $9...(hint: translation - I have a co-conspiritor who will run this price to the price I want at the last possible snipe moment..) why not just use the freakin reserve!!..ok..but still.. I bit the hook...and a real bidder did take a shot at me on one auction...from $9 to $75..fair enough..but realizing I was maxed higher..he let it lay...however ol dyzguy shows up at the last..and he pegs me for a $100..no problem.. I'm out of town so I had set a max on the rigs...so I still have it...but that wasn't good nuff for dyz..he has to go to the other auction and peg it up to a $100 too...thanks...anyway.. I'll spend a little time researching both handles just on principle (principal?...cause it pissed me off)..but in reality...the seller coulda popped me for $150 each and I'd still have won..so I hope somebody pertinent is reading this vent...cause I want them to know that 1) if I can catch you... I will report you... 2) you still didn't get but half of what I was prepared to pay for em...
there..now back to our regularly scheduled nice Ed....

You know Ed, I never thought about a ringer on those auctions, but if the ringer won, just list them again. Oh, I get it!!!. He drives it up to the max. I'm a little slow sometimes. (All the time) That would p*ss me off too. I like Ebay but it has the possibilites of abuse. By the way, why is Dan Olenik using Ebay before giving us a first chance? As long as you're b*tching.

That's why I always snipe. Reduces the chances of such things happening.
If you suspect shill bidding (seller bidding on his own auctions using another ID), report him to eBay. It may work, it may not. I've succesfully gotten sellers kicked off eBay for shilling, so it does work (just not always).
As to why Dan (or anyone) chooses eBay rather than a list like this : I've sold some smaller items to friends on my combo organ discussion group, but for more expensive items, I'm not keen on putting them up for grabs on the group. No telling who you might wind up doing business with. At least with eBay/PayPal the seller has *some* protection against deadbeats. But for any of the regulars I've come to know and trust, if I think they're looking for a specific piece, I'll usually offer it to them first.

No, there is no problem. Really. It's just that I would rather get a piece for a slightly lower price than what can happen on Ebay. I am just being frugal at someone else's expense. Dan has every right to do with his collection as he choses. But I tend to be like Ed. I collect without intention of selling. I am not in the music store business, so I tend to look at a sale as parting with an old friend. If I decided to sell my collection, I would want all of my Naugas to go to good homes rather than some snot nosed punk kid who thinks the T&R would look better pierced. However, that being said, any time we can increase the presence of the grand old glitter (in some cases, black) in the public eye, that is a good thing. So I am conflicted. Remember, this started as an Ebay vent.

In that regard, I am lucky. I have 2 sons that play and one is a bass player and one is a guitar player. They will get the collection when I can no longer play them. As it is, the amps get around. They were out last weekend and Saturday they will appear in the middle of town for a fall fest. Then they will show up again just before Halloween for another public function. But I still want to play and The entire stage is Kustom. It is fun. But my K100 Kollection needs 3 colors yet, Red, Silver and finally, and I'm saving the best for last, BLACK!!!!

Yes, Actually I got it on Ebay. What a coincidence. It is a K100-1 with a 1x15 CTS bass rig. I think the CTS is lacking in range though. I like my 2x12 CTS better. I might find a JBL D140 for it but it has a low priority. There are some spots in the covering that looked like rust spots from metal flakes that rusted and stained the surface, but I can't get them out. Overall it looks pretty good. I would insert a picture here but I don't know how. Most of my collection is very pristine.

I haven't opened the cabinet. It might not be a CTS for all I know. It is lacking in highs and really has very little personality. Because the gold is quite striking, PC for gaudy, it doesn't get out much. If I put in a D140 it might get used more.

This weekend I will be setting up a PA for a local Fall Fest. I will have 2 3X15 siren Cascade columns with JBL E140's, 2 Red 3X15 Jensen Ross Sirens and 2 4X12 JBL E120 loaded columns for the mids. The Cascade sirens are split and run as subs and highs with the mids in the 12's. I am powering the JBL subs with 1700 watts from 1/2 of a QSC PLX 3402, the mids are the second half of the 3402 running at 1100 watts and the highs are driven by a Sunn SA21 running at about 300 watts for the pair. The Reds are being pushed by a QSC PLX 1602 running about 500 watts running full range. Mostly, the Reds are for show right now. I need to aquire 3 more E140's and split the cabinet the same as the Cascades. Right now I don't need that kind of firepower. But I would like more lows and I would push 3400 watts out of 8 JBL's. Then I would like to run a second QSC PLX 1602 for the mids. But I'm sure that wouldn't be the end. I know there is a way to add pictures to this post but no one has explained how. Help!

I think you have to have the image hosted somewhere already. When you reply, there's a "Formatting Tools" toolbar, and one of them is "Image Insert". Click on that, and you can enter the URL of a picture. Here's an example - it's one of the pictures from my website (I hope this works):
