Hi!
I bought this k200B-5 several years ago and used it as my gigging bass head. Anyhow, one hot summer day at an outside show it quit. Just quit, no noises, nothing. It then went into storage and has been ignored since. So I'm going to fix it! The fuse behind the power switch is fried up real good, so I'm going to start there. Everything else inside looks great, so my fingers are crossed. The fuse is 250V (anyone with a schematic care to verify that?); should I put the same size in or get a larger one?
Also, the reverb pan had been removed before I bought it. I've since acquired a reverb pan that I'd like to put in it. The effects board has two "RCA" jacks on it and I don't know which end connects to which jack. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi, the amp uses slow blow fuses and they do not go with out a reason, you probibly have one or more bad output and driver transistors or the plastic round diode rectifier bridge near the power transformer shorted out(pretty common with a lot of heat.hears what I would try. Get some 1 amp 3ag style fuses and a in line fuse holder from radio shack, replace the bad fuse with it, then unscrew the 2 wires that go from the bridge to each large filter cap, put a dc volt meter across the 2 wires with the meter set to a 100 volt range and turn the amp on. If the fuse holds and you see about 40 volts on the meter than the rectifiers are ok and you need to start pulling the heat sink mounted outputs and check them out for shorts. The only other thing that may have blown the fuse is if you where playing outside on a genorator, as their regulation sucks and they can have large voltage spikes that may have taken out the fuse.Let us know how you make out. When you get it up an running the reverb question is easy.

Steve,
I'm going to agree that a the amp has a short in it. Anytime a fuse blows with violence, something is shorted. A "gentle" overload or surge will melt the fuse element without fanfare. I would start with the procedures you suggested. I tend to go for the transistors first. They always seem to get fried before the bridge. Maybe an overvoltage surge shorted a transistor. It doesn't take much. Again, any amp that old is amazing that they are as reliable as they are. A testament to Bud and his high engineering standards.

Thanks a bunch guys!
I stumbled across a post describing a similar situation and figured it would be a bit more involved. Can I get the parts I'll need at Radio Shack?
After my mother-in-law leaves (10 day visit Crying or Very Sad ) , I'll get into it and let you know how I get on.

Thanks Again! Very Happy

Hey Michael,
A 10 day visit by a mother-in-law is not so bad.

Mine's been here for 2,829 days..
so far.

Hey Les, I though you where gonna add a PS that said, 32 hours and 11 minutes but who`s counting!
Mike, you may find the fuses and a 15 to 25 amp rectifier bridge if you need it at raido shack, other wise places like mouser sales and other electronic supply houses have what you will need.
