Replacement Handles [message #1713] |

Almost two months ago I ordered replacement handles (part #88-095222-005, $14.90) for my kustom cabs from Vibro World, and I actually spoke to someone by phone (503-255-7122) and thought the handles were on their way. However, watching online (http://www.vibroworld.com/parts/tech9.html) the handles seem to be terminally out of stock. Does anyone have any other suggestions for replacement handles? Thanks, Mike

some vintage tube amp sites carry a replecment gibson amp handle. the plastic part of the gibson is clear not gray like the kustom. you can unscrew the plastic and paint the inside gray.

I was wondering if anyone has tracked down who makes the reissue Kustom handles?I need a couple of them myself.
I wrote the people selling them on e-bay,but they would not say who makes the reissues, and do not have parts.

If you still have the metal part of the handle you can buff them up back to their chrome with an electric or drill type buffer. Take some 5/8 oak and trace the inside of the handle. Cut out the oak, sand and round it up, drill holes to mount it to handle, and put several coats of gloss black. I did this with 3 of the handles. Had to order 1 handle from vibroworld. I got it in a week, painted the inside plastic gloss black, and now the PA cabinets look great with their new handles!

You know what, Mike? It's nice to have handles on your rig, but they aren't ORIGINAL. And that really diminishes their value to any collector. x-( If they are trashed as far as vinyl condition, then their handles don't matter. Just hope they aren't decent looking cabs, cuz if they are, you should find reproduction or used original handles to put on 'em. Someone in the group has some for sale, saw it in the classifieds on this page, or maybe it was ebay auctions.

Thanks for asking,,LesS. Visually there is very little difference, the only Visual difference are as follows,, instead of the rivets that hold the plastic the the metal handle, they use counter sunk Phillips screws. also, they have a nice rubbery handle, instead of the plastic, but looks no different than the old ones. the new style are in fact a little wider, than the vintage, but if you opt for the vintage, are modified to fit the narrower vintage hole pattern, also done with no aesthetic change to the handle, bottom line,, no one will know but you. and if you do find someone that notices,, he`ll want to know where you got them so he can get a set! if you go to the web site, there is a pic. of the handle and you can be the judge!heres the link,,
