I have a line on a 3x15 empty cab with no wheels or handles, but T&R is in excellent condition as well as the grill cloth and I'm wondering what would be a fair offer for it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

depending on the color, I would offer $150-$250. You can get casters at www.grainger.com (type in keyword "casters" and look at part numbers: 3A816, 4A001, and 5X758). I can't remember which one of the three they are, but the holes fit perfectly and as far as I can tell, they are the exact same as originals. They are about $5.15 each without shipping.

I found some handles at a place called ampwares.com that look pretty similar to the originals, but I never bought them. They were about $7.50 each.

So between the casters and handles, you're looking at around $45 before you even buy 3 15" speakers - which will run you back quite a bit if you go with decent speakers (most likely about $300 - $350). So all total, to get it up and running, you'd have to put in about another $350-$400.

If you're looking at it as a fun project and there's no major time table, I'd do it. I had an old cascade-colored cabinet that I used as a project, and I had a blast doing it, and now it sounds amazing. Those 3X15 cabinets are really cool, and somewhat hard to find.

Maybe I'm way off on my estimate as to what to offer, but it sounds like it'd be a fun thing to do. I scored the find of the century on craigslist about 2 weeks ago. It was an original Kustom cabinet with Red tuck and roll with 1 slight tear on it and the original 15" speakers for $200.

I would like to add that the original 200 series 3x15s used 16 ohm speakers for the 200 heads. So keep that in mind....as an alternative you might load two 8 ohm speakers and block or put a dummy speaker in the center position. I have 8 3x15s and I have wanted to try this, but I have not done it yet. Has anyone done this? Does anyone know the ohm rating on the 250 series 3x15 cabs? BC

Since the 250`s where rated at 3 to 4 ohms three 8 ohm drivers in parallel would be 4 ohms, right a what the amp wants.

Au Contrare, Steve, check your math again. 3 8 ohm speakers in parallel is 2.66 ohms. That's too low for those amps. I know there are those here that would dispute that, but I think the high value of emitter resistors were chosen to equalize the difference between 8 ohm loads and 4 ohm loads. But at 2 ohms, the high negative feedback in the differential amplifier section causes instability. Just a thought.
