I have a Kustom K100-1 on it's way to me with serial# 24405 which makes it a 1968 according to the serial# chart posting. I plan to play an 86' Fender Japan strat through it into a 70's Musicman 2x10 series wired 8 ohm cab. I see in the literature section for K100's that the non-effect K100-1 is shown as having "resonant bass boost" and in another pic, resonant treble boost? Does anybody know the story on this? I read here that K100-1 tonally is less shrill than the K100-2. If so that would imply that the K100-1 has a different tone stack than the K100-2?

Hi, both amps, the 2 channel non reverb/tremolo piggie back and the single channel reverb and tremolo model have the brite boost circuit. The 2 channel amp has transistor Q105 and Q106 for that fuction, and the single channel amp has Q106 and Q107 for that fucntion. I do not know about the 2 channel k100 combo amp.
I know its non-reverb channel has no boost, but I do not have a schematic for its effect channel, I would guess its got the high boost circuit also.
An easy thing to do would be to change the stock .005 cap off the input jack to a .022 or .047 for more lows and mids and less sting.

I have both K100-1's and K100-2's and I think the -2 has the same input channel as the -1 bright channel without the second normal channel. So a -1 has both treble and bass boost. I agree that the -2 is too bright for some guitars. With my 335, I need to open both treble and bass to get the sound I want but sometimes the treble can be too much.

Thanks for all the responces! Where would all of us be without you guys? Schematics are available in most cases but the way you guys check and balance each others trouble shooting is amazing!
