Is this head a 200 watt head or a 100 watt head? Also, anyone know what year this model is? I bought it at a pawnshop for $60.00 It was a great deal. It's in black tuck and roll. Thanks a lot.

The head is considered 100 watts RMS. Kustom rated all their amps at "peak" power. Should be about a 1968 vintage.BC

BC is correct, the head produces 100 watts rms into a 4 ohm load. Kustom's 2x15 used 16 ohm speakers wired in parallel to produce a 8 ohm cabinet. This was done so Kustom could safely run two of the 2x15 cabinets, thus giving the head 4 ohm and the 100 watts. Hope this helps. Don

definitely need 2 cabs...if nothing else, for the look! hardest working amp in show biz...I've run my rig with out fail since 1970..at times working it on a weekly basis...the 200B head has been retired, although it still works great..the pair of 2x15 cabs were reloaded about 15 years ago with subwoofers and long throw bass cones and have been in service ever since as the bottom of my all kustom PA rig helping to thump alongside a pair of 3x15 siren cabs and 4x10 columns...and no Mackie in the world looks as cool as we do on stage...so congrats on the great buy on the head..now go find yerself some cabS!! (we're nuttin but trouble to hang around)...Play Loud! ET

It really is... I remember being all of 15 and dreaming..even drawing doodles on my classroom paperwork..there was always little kustom cabs all over my paper...dreamed of having this system..now adays of course there's all this massive PA with great efficient 1,000 watt mega drivers and new space age materials, hyperdyme electronic crossovers with human DNA coded cellulite membranes that modulate with every transient sound wave..all placed snuggly in the hands of power mongering audio techs who wouldn't know a "G" string if their girlfriend slapped them in the face with it!...but for some of us, small time, old fart kinda guys eeeking out a car payment on the wedding circuit and corporate engagements...who still run their PA from the stage and want to look as cool as they possible can...who want their backline amps to matter..value the tones that come off the stage rather than turning everything down and going to in -ear monitors..yeah...this ol rig does right well...alot of times I don't even use the modified 200 head shells with the horns in them..just crank the sizzle up on the PA into the sirens and they do just fine.. (I'm running Motorola 150 watt Peizo horns in the back of the sirens by the way..no not the cheap Radio shack deals..these are actually quite nice..have a nice "shhhhss tone to them..sizzle without blair or harshness. I'd love more thump than the 2x15 cabs are capable of delivering..but you can never have enough bass..still, for most of what we do I never throttle the thing all the way up and we definitely fill the room....sound is good..but I admit..most of all...its about the look...having a pair of big cabs on each side of the stage with all thos chrome ports..just really frames things up so well..feel kinda naked when I have to do jobs with mackies on sticks and some little sub cab knockin around my knees on the floor..give me a wall of tuck n roll anyday!

I have played back in the day with the classic columns and I have a 2x12/2x10 cab that if I could find another one I would add them to the Pa. My Pa stuff is most yamie cabs with mackie amps and a old ancient Sunn colisium board. You're right new boards are much more space efficient but the old Sunn like your Kustoms looks so cool with its old huge self. I have only Kustom and Fender amps. I love the Kustoms on my bass and keyboards. I use the heads on the Leslie and the cabs with Fender heads on guitars. I own so much old stuff that no one brings anything but their own instrument if they come out to play. But the old Kustoms are so cool I can't ever let them go. They've been with me all of my life and sound even better with the passage of time. Your right too a lot of it is looks but if it did'nt sound so good we would'nt still be using it either now would we LOL..
