Hello, My name is Shain and i just found this great resource for kustom fans. I am 30 and have been playing guitar for over 16 years. Recently i was gifted two kasino cabinets (patent# 210, 219) from an old friend who didn't need them anymore. However, i didn't have a PA and don't have a need for one currently. But i do have a need for a tube amp and would love to use these old cabinets with such depending on feedback i can get on how much they can handle. Ive contacted Kustom, but have yet to here back from them on my concern about the speakers.

I recently tested these cabinets (6- 8inch speakers per cabinet), under a Marshall JCM2000 50watt tube amp. I got very clean, loud tone but unsure what ohms the speakers may be. As well, i am not too familiar with amps. I tried all inputs, (4, 8, 16ohms) and was very pleased with the sound of both cabinets at 16ohms. But i don't want to blow the speakers if this shouldn't be used as such.

So i am wondering if anyone out there has any experience using similar Kasino cabinets under a tube amp? Any input or advise will be greatly appreciated. I have not taken the backs off the cabinets yet to inspect the speakers further. But i did not detect any blown from my testing.

Thanks for the site and forum. Very Happy

Takecare
Shain

Hi, those cabinets are more than likly 8 ohms each, so when wired up to your Marshall if you want the most power you need to set the amps impeadance selector to the 4 ohm setting, although to your ear you may like the way the will sound with the selector set for 8 or 16 ohms as the head will go into crunching sooner. Doing this will not hurt the marshall or the speakers, but it will use up the amps output tubes a bit faster dependant on how far up you crank the amp.
You should not have to be concerned with blowing those speakers with the amps 50 watts, but they are not the hardest speakers to start with, and depending on how much distortion you play with and how loud you play, a distorted square wave output signal will take its toll on a speaker sonner or latter!
Hope this helps.
