I recently got a k100b 1 from a friend of mine, he hadn`t used in years it was very dirty and I had lots of crackle when I first used it, I`ve cleaned all the pots and it sounds much better, however I`m not getting much volume out of it on the bright side and next to no volume on the normal side, I`m running through through a 2 x 15 crate cabinet at four ohms, the sound is good and clean just not very load at all, anybody have any thoughts on this I`d love to hear them, and maybe some scematics as well. thank you sfa@tds.net

Hi, Lets try to keep things simple, before I suggest internal things to check.On your channel that works, play your guitar with the amp volume full, play some full chords or low bass notes. If you do not see the power lamp get dimmer when you play you are not driving the power amp section with enough signal to get the 50 watt RMS output that the amp is rated for. If the dimming does happen, I would hook up an A/C volt meter across the speaker wires while you are playing and at 4 ohms you should see 14 volts , at 8 ohms you should see 20 volts. If driving the amp hard gives these voltages, than the channel that works and the driver/ output section are OK.Let me know what you find out. We can take things step by step and get to the non working channel latter.If you find that the amp hits these voltages, than the crate speakers are just very inefficiant. PS when testing put your channels bass knob up full, and you have to be hook up to the speakers to monitor the output.

I follwed what you had to say and the is no dimming of the light at all, and on the output i was reading a peak of 8 volts AC running on 8 ohms, What next?

Hi, Its time to get a schematic and fix it yourself if you can, or take it to a shop, whit a schematic so they can get it up and running.
