Have a 3x12 speaker cabinet. Need to buy a matching 200 head but don't know if I should get a 200A or 200B series. I know the the A series are thinner. Does anyone know the exact measurements front to back on the A series vs. B. Thanks!

Hello. If you are buying the head based on dimesions, the A and B series are extremely close and size won't be an issue, unless you want to swap enclosures with another model. You probably know this, but the A and B series are easily distinguishable by a few features, the B series has a "))200((" logo on the front and an RCA output on the back while the A series doesn't. There was a post a little while back discussing sonic differences, do a search and you'll pick it up. I myself own a K200-A5 and a K200-B6 and they are two very different amps, my Jensen 2x15 sounds brittle with the A5 while it sounds like God with the B6, and the A5 has absolutely great guitar sound with a pair of CTS 2x15s while the B6 is best kept for bass on that setup for an over abundance of upper mids (that said, I use the Jensen cab and a modified Traynor 2x15 cab with a CTS in a sealed upper compartment and an Altec 515 in the bottom ported section for the B6 for guitar). If you're buying the head based on model year syncronization, pop open the cab and look at the speaker codes to place a date on it (if they're original). Otherwise, some features did change slightly over the years on the 200 2x15s at least, I'd imagine the 3x12s were the same. My CTS cabs from '68 have a small model badge in the back bottom right corner while my '70 Jensen cab doesn't, and (you may also know this) the later 250 series cabs were straight with slightly different grille cloth. Bottom line though, when buying an amp, just go for the tone. Have fun!
