Hey there, just picked up a blue Hustler this w/e which was I great shape but has what looks to be a small visible burn spot on the top of the T&R. Any recommendations on how to repair this? I've read clear silicon and craft store bought sparkle will do the job. Can someone tell me how well or if the silicon will match the color of the naugahyde?

That type of repair will look better than just a burn mark, if you remove one or two of the metal feet from the bottom of the amp head you can do a trial run or two under those for practice.
If you wet your finger with soapy water you can shape the silicone pretty well to the needed shape, this the only way to get it to look better other than doing a full recover job!

Walmart carries a vinyl repair kit made by 3M that comes in assorted colors that works pretty good on small tears and holes. I imagin you could mix glitter into the goo as well. It sells for around $12 and is in the auto dept.

I run to Family Dollar, they sell a L.A. brand fingernail sparkle polish that is a perfect match for the red sparkle, blue sparkle, and cascade. Also a close match to a charcoal.
I just keep applying a layer after layer until it fills up the burn spot.I know it's there, but from a few feet away most people won't know its been repaired.

Sparkle nail polish is the only way to make it look right. Pleat did one and you can't even see it, it took a while of small coats and building it up, but looked awesome!

There's a guy here in Marshalltown Iowa that I think could do a very professional job for you. You can't get the original naugahyde that Kustom used...I've tried. But if you go to www.garysupholstery.com and look at the zodiac material it is very close. This guy can get it........$16.00 per yard which isn't all that bad. He quoted me $200 to do a head last summer. I know Pleat would like to see this guys work.....he made a sample for me and I couldn't tell the difference from the original. Maybe he might do your's even cheaper if I talk to him about using pictures afterwards on this site to promote his business. Can't hurt to try. Private message me if your interested in me hooking you up with Ben. Samples are available from the website listed above if you want to compare them to the original.

I have someone here in my dinky town .He seems to be able and also has the exact material.We compared a piece and it is a huge roll.He did some custom car upholstery in 1970 and paid ultra bucks for the vinyl.He thought the tuck&roll in that color would bring a lot of business.He also has some other colors.Would it devalue my amp if if it were in blue paisley

Value wise, if you recover an amp it won't be original anymore. So keep that in mind. If you are recovering it for YOU then it doesn't matter. Will you recoup your investment....probably not since its not cheap to have the work done and done right. As to color.....again, since its not original...doesn't really matter. There were fewer red Kustoms made than Blue.
