amazing the difference $2 cab make..well actually $2.50
twice now I"ve run across an ebay situation..black kustoms of course..whad'ya think?! anyway...the sellers didn't put a reserve on em...and I"m thinking...yep..these are those odd little pieces that they gang in general really wouldn't care about and I just might get a good deal on em..so being a just and true hearted saint of a bidder.. I place my bid with a fair but modest max and carefully add $2.50 on top so instead of an even $150 my max would be for example $152.50. Low and behold there seems to be a trade secret trick by the more experienced sellers to not use a reserve, but rather use a different ebay name to run the price up to my max..I guess what surprises them is that as they hit the $150 they see that I haven't popped my lid yet so they must figure I'm good for another $25 or $50 so they keep pushing and are surprised when they get to $154 and find that they now are the proud owners, once again, of their own gear...then comes the fun part as the emails come into me explaining how its actually their uncle who just tries to protect their interest, or it was some guy that had a girl friend who's car broke down and now he doesn't have the money to buy the rig so I can have it for my max if I want it..swear..I'm on the 4th sob story now like this..and just out of curiosity I track some history and isn't it neat that these mystery bidders have shown up on other auctions of the same seller....and only that seller, just in the nick of time to save the price of the item...I hate ebay..but I love looking at the pictures...anyway..out of the 4 occurrances, I was greedy enough to pay my max which I still considered a fair price and bought the item....on these other 3 even though I wanted the piece I just couldn't get my stomach to settle for dealing with them...in fact the last one got an official ebay warning on the practice and admitted as much....the current ebay item will be interesting to watch..it expires this weekend and I'd bet ya'll a naughy kat (no a new one you silly krazies) that there's an email heading my way with yet another sad story attached...fortunately, I don't really "need" this rig..if there is such a kustom..ya know..one that we don't "need"...oooh I don't think so...anyways..try the $2 add on next time and see what you get....also...would be curious to know of some of your techniques..no, not so I can whoop you on the next auction... I'm bout bought out anyway..as I hope you will see at Indy..thar be a lot of kustoms in the ET trailer !!

My tip is not to bid in normal amounts. Don't bop in a $2.50 overage, do a $2.89 or so overage. That really messes them up! I've won quite a few auctions by a penny this way!!! Now, don't do it to me "debraehart" or I'll kick your butt!!!
