I bought a 2x15 CTS loaded cab in nice shape. It has a plate on the back where somebody stripped the module out. I would like to restore this cab to original and use it with my 250 head and original 2x15 cab. After giving the "new" cab a bath, cleaning out the mouse skeletons from inside, polishing the chrome, and a coat of Armorall, it matches my rig beautifully. I don't want to run it with an impedance mismatch, so I can use my GK RB800 as a slave to power the second cab for now, but really prefer to bring it back to factory spec. I'm not sure of the model if there are different power modules, I saw one on ebay (already sold) but don't know if there is a special module for bass.. Any leads appreciated!

Thanks!

Rich
Thank you Earl! It's awesome. Wink

Well, the module quit working a couple of weeks ago, I guess it went south after such a long rest. It was fun while it lasted...

I took it to my local amp guy, and he keeps calling me telling me more bad news-- lots of parts failed, probably a chain reaction..

I guess he's having some trouble cross referencing some of the part numbers, too. Really a shame...

The modules are the same, however the module made for the later tolex series has more wattage and will work just fine. Keep your eyes open and you will find one.

I got a power module for my cab, and it worked OK for a couple of weeks- then stopped. It has been at my tech's shop for almost a year now, while he tries to find parts to repair it. Lots of things went wrong with it.. I'm interested in another module, but don't need another cab. I don't know if I'll ever get the broken one back from my tech at this point. Doesn't look promising.

Kustom didn't make a power module for a tolex Kustom amp. They did make a Kasino power module that is 100 watts RMS. Kasino modules had the twist lock AC cables. The Kustom power module is 125 watts RMS.
I'd look for any of the rack mount Kustom power amps, they used the same board as the 250 module and are really cheap. Use the rack mount amp for a donor amp and get the module working again.

I forgot it was the Kasinos and not the tolex series...lol! Using the power amp you can get 2 boards out of it correct?

Depending on which rack mount amp you find. Kustom did two mono rack mount amps the XPA and the lll monitor amp, which have one power amp. The XSPA stereo rack mount has two power amps. There are several amps you can use as a donor amp. Any of the tolex lead or bass lll amps, the Bi-Amp power amps etc all use the same power amp boards.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any ideas where one of these amps might be available, and roughly what a fair price would be?

I have lots of power amps that do the job of powering my second cab, but would prefer the stock look and function. I'm on an extremely limited budget, price would be a huge issue for me at this time. Also I seldom run the second cab anyhow- the single head/cab I own works flawlessly, and is not my only bass rig- I would simply enjoy having my single head, two cab Kustom rig back to a fully working setup. There is a working mono rack kustom amp on ebay right now, sitting at 75.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kustom-X-Power-slave-amp-/2309938399 34?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35c84e473e#ht_178wt_12 28

First thing I'd do is get your power module back from that tech hasn't done anything with it. Let Chicago Bill take a look at it, and see what costs might be invlolved.
