The plexi face comes off by removing all the knobs, then all the nuts and washers from the shafts of the pots and then the chrome face plate outer ring of the pilot lamp must be un-screwed.
When you back the circuit boards off the inside face of the amp be sure to get all the lock washers that will fall off each pot shaft.
With the plexi face off now is the time to use some gloss black Enamle paint to touch up any black coating that may have came off.
Now will also be the time to give all the pots a good flush out and lube job!

On the backside of the pilot holder there should be a large nut that holds the entire thing in place.
You will have to unsolder the wires to the resistor and power supply in order to get the pilot holder out the front of the amp. In fact it is easier to get at the nut once the wiring as been removed.

OMG, speaking of KAY, the bass player in my first band 36 years ago had a SG style Kay bass, this thing was about 30 bucks new I think, strings were about a foot from the fret board, I had a nice Epi, lead player had a Gibson L6s and he was a year younger than us so he was 12 and the drummer was 12 too and had a nice set of Ludwigs. The lead player always used to ask the bass player "What the hell does Kay stand for anyway? I think that is Japanese for PILE of shit" lmao! We used to ride him hard about it, but he darn hear wore holes through the tips of his fingers playing it finger style and had a forearm like GI Joe with that Kung-Fu grip. I finally learned guitar set-up and got the neck kind of straight and got the strings down and he could really play it then.... Sorry back on subject, I just saw Kay and couldn't resist sharing the story...lol!
