Hi. If you really want to pin down how old the amp is, open it up and lokk at the side of one of the potentiohmeters/ controls. You may need help from a small mirror. You will find a string of numbers like 137922. 137 is a CTS made control which all most all kustoms used the next number (9) is the year the next 2 numbers are the week of that year, the 22nd.

"B" series heads started in mid 68 with a serial number somewhere around 27xxx. I have found this out by looking at 'A' and 'B' series amps. We really need to compare numbers to research this more and try to find the earliest metal face amp and the latest plexi face by S/N. BC

seems like we went down this road years ago with some of the original team back when we were on the vintageguitar forum...I thought someone had built a database from our replies... I think I've still got the original posts...but not the database...and as I'm typing I'm thinking that we might have been chasing the oldest frank heads rather than segmenting the model styles so scuse my grey hair'd brain cells. I don't know my serial numbers since my rigs are buried deep in the belly of my band trailer for lack of space in the house!!! but a change is a comin and I'm too nervous excited to talk about it lest I screw the deal.....but there will be kustom room!! a whole big room!!!! June! ya'll pray that things continue to go well on it for me.. I appreciate it. I have I think 3 200B series heads...PA, bass, guitar, and an old 200A ross rig... I'll check serials as soon as I can get to em...ET

My amp inventory has changed significantly since the last time we checked S/N on them. I would guess the early 3xxxx would be 1969 or possibly late 68. Some of the late "B" series heads had the outputs marked like the 250 series amps and the later Kasinos......some of them even had 1/4 outputs to other amps instead of the RCA plugs seen on earlier heads. JC probably has the best source of numbers on the Frank heads because of quantity. It should be possible for some "computer types" to create a way we could list the gear by serial number and model and not reveal the personal info of the owner. No help here as I have enough trouble just loging in! BC
