I'm looking at a 2x15 cabinet to buy with CTS speakers in them, the seller can't find a serial number on the cabinet, but, the serial numbers on the speakers are 5815113-137 6836.
The seller thinks it may be a 1968. Is there anyone who knows about serial number dating on Kustom cabinet speakers, and do these speakers appear to possibly be the correct ones for the cabinet. Thanks in advance for any insight to this question.

If the speakers are original, the cabinet was made approx November 1968 or within the next few months.
It may be hard to tell if they are the original speakers. Do the speaker frames have the white Kustom stamp? Does the jackplate on back of the cabinet say CTS?
There are exceptions, but basically Kustom starting putting serial numbers on speaker cabinets starting approx October 1969.

I have a 1968 2-15 cabinet and both of my speakers do not have the white kustom stamping, and they are the orignal drivers. Either Kustom or CTS started the stamping thing at some point, or sometimes a factory worker messed up and forgot. One of my cabinets has a reconed 15 cts driver that has a stick on lable that says cts reconed for kustom, so blown drivers under the life time warranty went all the way back to CTS for recone!
