1968 Vintage Kustom 200 4 channel Amp Tuck & Roll Loaded W/56oz Alnico Jense - $800

It appears to be a blue K200 head with TWO gold 3x15 cabinets. Holy crap. The text seems to suggest the seller has only ever played guitar through it. I'm a bass man, and I currently use a K200A 2x15 as my main gigging rig and I love it, so this looks like a dream. I'm _pretty_ sure it would be fine for bass with these speakers, but I wanted to try and confirm that for sure with some of you knowledgeable folk. And opinions on whether it's a good price are welcome too.

What do you think? Should I go for it?

I'm sure you will get lots of opinions. The Jensen speakers are guitar speakers, not bass speakers. From three photo's it appears that the cabinet showing the speakers has had some wiring changes made. Red and black wires were standard from Kustom. The siren horns are not best suited for bass guitar. I'd guess, the cabs are faded or yellowed out silver, not gold cabs. Easy way to find out for sure, is have the seller remove a handle or jack plate to verify that the color is the same.

You should find out if the speakers have the Kustom logo ink stamp somewhere on the frame. I didn't see the stamp from the photo. The speakers appear to be period correct, but could be replacement 8 ohm speakers. The correct speakers should be 16 ohms each. I mention all of this in regards to the K200B-5 head. If the speakers are not the original 16 ohms, then running both cabs to the head present a 2 ohm load. The K200 series amps run at 4 ohm or above, running below 4 ohms, can damage the amp. Seems like there are to many unanswered questions to determine if the system is worth the 800.00.
Color and condition of the T&R along with the things mentioned play into worth, and if you have a need for it, plus hauling that system around is not easy without a truck or trailer.

My two cents worth would the fact that its a PA head and as such they have a bit different EQ to them than your current head does and you may not like it, also those heads with the added two channels amd the reverb preamp in them put out a bit less output power than just your current two channel head.
This due to the added electronics power useage.
What I would sugest doing is bring your 2-15 cab to the guys house and play that head thru it and see what you think about the heads tone and power.
Also those Jensen speakers are original, as the three I have in my cabinet have no Kustom stampings on them also for some reason.

Thanks guys, this is just the sort of input I was looking or. I didn't know from the description that this was more of a PA amp.
