The main difference between the two transistors are power and voltage ratings.
The 2N3055 is rated at 60 volts and 15 amps.
The 2N3771 is rated at 40 volts and 30 amps.

The 2N3771 transistor is rated for 40 volts which is low for use in your Kustom amp.

If you want to replace yours there are better rated transistors that you can use. Why do you need to replace yours?

Due to age of amp mostly. Also the chassis was pretty dirty almost like dirt and oil kinda sticky. I have cleaned the bottom of the chassis and some wires with simple green and a brush. I am wanting to de-funk the boards and the rest that I can't get to. Any chemicals you recommend? Thanks

Been there, done that. I've seen amps that have sat in restaurants for years that have a horrible goo made up of food grease and dust. Worst yet are any power amps with ventilation fans that suck that grease right in.

Lately I've been using a dollar store cleaner with the Amazing or Awesome brand name. Anything that will cut through the grease film is good. Just try and keep it off of the pc boards and components.

so unless you have decades old power transistors to replace the current ones, my experience is that the new production (of you can get ones that aren't fakes) 2n3055s are not nearly as rugged as the old ones. if you've got an amp that works and is filthy, clean it up and play (converting tho 3 prong power cord and removing the death cap is okay though)
