i took my cab apart that came with my K250-2 so i could get the speaker reconed-and there is no insulation and there is a "T" shaped cross brace behind the ports but it only connects on 1 side and the front and the back but does not go all the way to the left side- it looks like it should but the piece was cut to short? i do some woodworking should i replace this piece or is it not a big deal? the insulation- wear exactly should it go- (back , sides, top, bottom, the front around the speakers, all of the above????? taking the speaker in today to recone thanks again jeff in minneapolis

being completely ignorant about proper speaker cab design I too found the exact same conditions in all of my big cabs and was/is still dumbfounded by it.. I would have suspected cheap efforts by other manufacturers, but with Kustom...heck they put more screws in their cabs than any 5 rigs from the other boys. I to this day honestly don't know why that center wood does not run all the way across the back, but your rig is not abnormal. As for the insulation...I've also seen those both ways...I don't know if it was a manufacturing decision based on wether the cab was for guitar or bass, or in consideration of the speakers, or if a prior owner had pulled the stuffing out. On the cabs that do have the insulation, it wraps around the sidewalls, top and bottom and on the back panel. A matter of tonal taste, some like the sound of a less reflective internal surface thus the insulation..want more boom and crisp....leave her bare...course speakers make the bigger diff anyway.... see like I told ya.. I ain't got a clue what I'm talkin about...but its fun ! ET
