John, Hi I work at Altel systems in N.Y state. You can send me the whole amp if you like, but it would be cheaper to pull the amp out of the combo for shipping cost. My number here 8 to 4.30 EST is 845 278 4400, or at home 914 962 1325.

Hey Steve, what will you charge to totally go through a K50 chassis and de-hiss it and make it as new??? I have one here that has no problems, but very small hiss, but I'd like to redo it so it will be perfect.

The question I must ask is,how much hiss is prensent? All amps have a low amount of what is called white noise when they are on, its normal.Do you have a second amp to compair it to, their may not be a problem. I could go thru the amp and upgrade the preamp transistor to new ones which are better in the white noise reguard, but I do not think you could say the the cost would be worth it unless your are recording direct with the amp then the improvement would be heard. The transistors are only about 20 cents each one preamp has 2 plus a FET style transistor, the other preamp uses two IC chips. The driver board has several transistor 3 of which may help the noise. The ICs are low noise, if the amp works their OK.If the amp does have a problem it is most likly a leaky capacitor on one of the preamp boards.

Thanks for your response. Both channels are dead. They put out white noise. John
