Last night I was playing on channel two as usual. After a while I decided to add a little fuzz to the sound. At first the fuzz didn't work, then it came on but the control was a little touchy. Only used it for a very short time and then turned it off. Played a little more and then set guitar down. Minutes later heard a loud pop and then the channel went dead. Channel one is still functioning okay. Where do I need to look and what do you think the problem is?

Are the other effects still working? I always first suggest cleaning the Molex connectors on the boards.

The fuzz is a separate circuit from the other FX and has its own set of connectors that will kill the signal from the second channel.

All the effects work on the first channel only except the fuzz of course since its on the second channel. The pop was really LOUD.

Try bypassing the fuzz circuit. There is connector that sends the preamp signal to the fuzz circuit and then back to the preamp board. If you pull off the connector and then jumper the two signal points together, it will bypass the fuzz circuit and if the preamp board is working you will get sound from the 2nd channel.

If the channel works, then the problem is with the fuzz circuit, if the channel doesn't work, then the preamp has a problem.

Note that the output of the channel with selectone gets fed into the last gain stage on the other channel which acts like a mixer.
Like Bill posted about this could all be as simple a issue as tarnished up connectors going from board to board!
