Hi guys. I stumbled on this Ebay item http://cgi.ebay.com/Vinyl-covers-for-New-Kustom-2-12-plus-ho rn-cabinets_W0QQitemZ170194914384QQihZ007QQcategoryZ43373QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem and I was wondering if anyone else knows about these cabs. They seem to be quite nice but the Kustom website has nothing on the Johnny Cash Collection PA system. ???

Earlyer this year when Kustom came out with this PA system(which can also be had with 2-15" and a horn)the Muscians friend
catalog had the so called Johnny Cash PA on the front cover.
I will look at home tonight if I still have that catalog, or you might go their site, as they might still list it.

That's the problem Steve, they don't list it. No reference at all. I might be interested if they are still for sale.

musician friend has the pa system for sale at 999.00. The system comes with 15 inch eminence speakers. They look cool but the drawback I see is it only comes with a 4 channel pa head that
looks cheap to me.

I looked at Musicians Friend and saw the PA's. The heads are high and low impedance. The head is 200 watts RMS which is plenty for small coffee house gigs or spoken PA work. But I didn't like the tone control setup. The 4 channels have a tone control at 5 Khz which seems odd and master Bass, Mid and Treble besides reverb. I could see just the speakers with a standard board/power amp configuration. Maybe at 1000 watts or so for a pair of speakers. I am considering purchasing a Blue pair just to see.

You might want to reconcider that purchase, as you will be in for a bunch of rework to handle that power level if those cabinets are built like my 2001 T&R 2-15 cab.
The speakers are screwed in with #8 wood screws into the particle board!, no good old #10/32 machine studs thru the baffel board like the old days, and the cabinets are hot gluded togetheir so you atleast have to add side blocks where the top and bottom sections meet the sides, just getting the baffle out is a major project!
Hope this info helps!

You know I have a 2x15 T&R from about that same vintage. My son bought it through a local music store and it took 3 attempts to get a decent one. You are right about the construction but I'm using that one as a PA rack. I removed the baffle and replaced it with a couple of rack rails on the sides. The opening is a perfect 19" Just a piece of wood to stand the rails out to the proper dimension. I had to remove the power amps and put them in a Sonic road case. Now it's just the processors and such. I would hope that the new ones are better than the Chinese versions we have. At least if they are made overseas then Kustom might have increased the integrity of the construction. I don't know if I want to spend as much for those as a 60's vintage pair. I have those already. Still looking for that red 2x12 K100. Hint Hint
