I'd appreciate any input on a clean (one 1/4" tear in Naugahyde)original K200 head in blue with selective boost and harmonic clipper. It's in decent working order but the clipper has some noise like a bad cap, and the volume seems to drop when the selective boost knob is turned up - is that normal?

Hey Kevin......I will go out on the limb since no one else has. I have owned 4 of the K200B-4 heads and briefly had in my possession a K200A-4 head. The volume drop in the boos circuit seems to be normal....I have yet to find a good purpose for this...but I am a bass player. The clipper works well and gives a dated distortion. I have used it on bass and guitar and like the sound. As far as value....that will depend on who is buying. I have bought these heads as cheap as 100 and as high as 250. I have seen some on Ebay go higher.....and others to not get much interest. The Kustom market does not seem to be stable. Many people shy away because there are no tubes.....but there are a few guys on this webboard that would prove to you that tubes are not all there is for quality tone. The A-4 heads seem to be a little more in demand as that is what John Fogarty has been seen with for so many years.......and the circuit is a little different from the B-4. The model 4 heads also have rev/vib. If your amp does not, it could be a K200B-3 which is a little rare......but no more value that I know of.
