I came across a Kustom Cab at a local music store but we are not sure if it's a guitar or bass cab. The modle no. is 4-12G, serial number 32856. Looking for the impedance if you know also. They were asking $180 for it, although it is in a little bit of rough condition. Was/is it a low, med,or high end cab. by Kustom. Could I use it with the Kustom PA I have. Anything again is appreciated.

That is a cabinet for guitar from the K250 serise of amps that came out in 1971.
I am not sure of its impeadance, it should be 4 ohms, but something that old could have been rewired if speakers have been replaced. In any case I would get a cheap volt/ohm meter to confirm what it is.
A resistance of 5 to 7.5 ohms would be 8 ohms in impeadance.
3 to 3.7 ohms would be a 4 ohm cabinet, and yes you could use it for PA use although it may be kind of woffy sounding if you do not pack the two tuned ports with soft foam, or tape them over with black duct tape.
I guess ears will be the Judge.

Hey, thanks alot. I really appreciate your help. We are thinking of using it(PA) as a guitar amp with our pedals for effects/dist.
Since the PA is four chanel
s we're thinking of a guitar channel, an acoustic guitar channel, one for keys/drum machine and one for vocals. Would it be possible to use a guitar cab and a PA cab on the other side. Just thinking about trying some different things with it. We have a small non-profit music school that we plan on using it with. Thanks again. This site has been extremely helpful. Thanks.

The 412G cabinet should have vented slots in the back and two port tubes in the front. Factory impedance is 4 ohms. The 412G cabinet with the back venting may cause some feedback issues when using a microphone. No telling what may have been changed out or rewired since the cabinet was new. Addressing the question of using the K200 PA head to drive the cabinet. The K200 PA head is a 4 ohm total load. If you use the amp to drive the 412G cabinet then you can't add anymore cabinets. A sound problem I see if you did add a PA cabinet with a speaker and a horn, is to get a good sound for guitar with the 412G cabinet, you'll find the added cabinet with a horn will be very bright and not real pleasing to the ear. If you adjust the tone to get a good sound from the PA cabinet, then the 412G cabinet will be really bass heavy. It's just not a good mix to have one cabinet without a horn and one cabinet with a horn.
Since most modern mic's are LoZ impedance, you might better get a system to handle just vocals and use the 412G cabinet with the K200PA head for all the instruments, then you can adjust the K200 for all the musical equipment and let the stand alone PA handle vocals.

Ok, thanks alot. I think I'll do what you say using it for the instruments and keep the vocals seperate. We?, well I really want to use this head, so i think I'll grab that cab and get to work. Thanks again.
