So I just bought this set, my first Kustom Vintage stuff. Here are all the details I know.

Head is K150-2 S/N: 92171

Cab is a 1G+1H S/N: 51164

Tried to pull the back off the cab and it was on so tight I was worried about ripping the tuck and roll.

Anyhow I am dying to know more. Thanks

Congrats on your kustom purchase. I will warn you that one will not be enough. At one time I owned 78 kustom pieces.

The foam sealing gasket material Kustom used turns to a tar like substance over the years. To remove the back, Remove all screws and I use a 2x2 piece of wood through the port tube openings and hammer the 2x2 to break the seal.
As far as the amp, it's 75 watts, altec horn with a EV driver, KEI 15" speaker if everything is original to the cabinet. Amp wants a 3 to 4 ohm speaker cabinet.

Cool pick up. I have the same head in black with the matching 2-12 cab. Just had the head gone thru and it sure sounds great. That sealer that turns to tar mess that Kustom used is horrible. Have cleaner and rags handy when you take the back off, 'cause it is messy. Enjoy. Cool

I never thought about the port tube. OK I can do that. Any idea on the dates of manufacture?

And thanks for the heads up on the messiness

Welcome to our crazy world, and you have been forwarned about the sickness that may set in!

You are missing a diget from that serial number. The best I can do with what you have posted is 1971, or 1972.

be carefull if you drive (2X2) the back of the cabinet off by yourself as the wires going to the jack are very short and if the back goes flying off when it breaks free you will rip the treminal strip off of the 15" driver.
It would be best to have two extra hands to help out.
The messy sealing compound the factor uses can be wiped off with turpentine.
And auto parts and body shops sell the black gasket/ sealing strips in different width and lenght rolls to re-seal the back.
The best probducts of this type are made by 3M in their Auto body line of items.
Also be carefull when turning the amp on or off, or whenever you use the power or polarity switches as pushing too hard on these can snap the plastic body of the switch since these get very dry and brittle with age.
They are impossible to get replacements for unless you grab them from another amp!

I really just want to know the date codes on the drivers in the cab is the only reason for wanting the back off. Sounds like more trouble than it's worth. And knowing me I'd screw something up bad.

As for leaving a number of the S/N's here are some pics of each plate.

Cab---- "51164"

the cab is a late 71, so it all fits into the scheme of things fine.
