I have been doing quite a bit of travelling lately and after my most recent trip to China, I was on my way home from work and I stopped in to a local music store here in the Milwaukee area for no apparent reason. As soon as I entered, I spotted a pristine, charcoal K100-1 with CTS speakers. This thing is MINT!! I was told that a lady traded it in for a more modern rig, a Marshall half stack for her son. She felt she was a bit too old to rock. She was the original owner and I am now the second owner of a very nice, absolutely stock K100. I told my wife about it and she said, and I quote, "did you buy it?" I was floored. We had discussed that I would not buy any more amps until my trailer was paid off, but this was too good to pass up. This thing was calling to me. I have 4 more colors to go, Blue, Red, Silver and Black. But I also have a larger collection and I just sent pictures to JC. I hope he posts them soon. I think you will like the 2 Gibsons that are pictured with them. I will try to keep in touch and I still would like to attend a gathering sometime in the future.

I am running around New England this week and I stop into Daddy's Junky Music. There is this player connected to a Line 6 modelling amp and he has the most generic chorus/distortion sound going and he thinks this is the greatest thing since sex and he is telling his wife? that he just has to have it. After $1000 trades hands he is happy. That's great. He won't be looking at any T&R and that means more for us.
My wife and I have a deal. I travel a lot and she has a standing deal that she can buy whatever she wants without worry that I will nix the deal. She really isn't into baubles but she did buy a beautiful China cabinet. For that I could buy the rest of my K100 kollection. Are any of the crazies selling K100's? I am not ready to buy, but I am in the market. Also, I could use a pair of 3x15 sirens. Again, not just yet.

I see it all the time Con....guys pulling up with modeling amps, brand new marshalls (translation: underbiased w/cheap tubes, etc) and even the beloved Mesa boys (gotta be careful here cause Mesa is being really good to me right now)...but point is...the guitarists totin those amps have paid serious cash for them and then out comes one of my little kustom combo and a couple Boss pedals in front and you can hear the thud as their jaws hit the floor...
now I've retubed and practicallyrebuilt most of my fenders and marshalls and I am proud of the way they sound..so I'm not knocking the other brands...but darn near nothing I can't cover with a kustom and an overdrive pedal...last weekends wedding meant 4 hours of cover tunes..from Shania to Seiger to old jazz standards to KC & the Freakin Sunshine band to SRV blues..my pedal board, aside from wet fx like stereo delay tap n chorus, has only a comp and an ovedrive pedal on board..the rest is guitar pup selection and playing style to song genre..and behind it all was a little K25C 1x12 bought used in 1968 for $90 and requiring no maintenance these last 30 plus years...go figfure...oh and thanks Bud Ross !
