I first bought a 100 combo, it has no back plate, but appears to be a K100 C7 (twin 12s). This amp is bright and powerful, a wonderful combo, great sound, I dont love the onboard tremolo but the reverb is solid, a great amp.

Next I purchased K100 C7, this is a single 15", I suppose its a bass amp, but man does it deliver rich deep clean guitar tone, it sounds great for bass too, i play guitar mainly.

I then wanted to get a Kustom Head, I bought a K200-B5. This head is really good for guitar if you use the bass/treble liberally, it is also a great PA head(go firgure), reverb is really good. I almost stopped my buying craze with this head.

Next up is my Kustom IV Lead, but I will get back to that.

The same day I got my Lead IV from the shop I picked up a K200-C6 head. This C6 is my first actual TnR guitar head, holy smokes this thing is wonderful for Guitar ( I guess it is officially a bass head?) This amp bites and snarls like a wild dog, this is what I really have been looking for, damn this is the KUSTOM GUITAR SOUND! It has a knob called SELECTONE, I can't tell if it is incredably subtle or broken and I am tricking my self into thinking it works? Does anybody have input re the SELECTONE knob? It also has a humm/buzz in the HIGH input/Bright side... is this a common problem "I" could fix? If you have insite do share, the amp is so great on the other channels that I can live without the one for now.

Back to the Lead IV............this is not tuck and roll and to be honest it does NOT have that Kustom Sound that I have come to love, But, it is a brute with tons of power and GREAT clean tone and AMAZING tremolo, really amazing tremolo. This amp is pure clean power. Trem and reverb are excellent. I have never played with this much power before and i love it, it is built like a tank, it has an inboard fan, 7 band EQ, very cool, but not old school.

I think I am going to try to aquire the entire 200 head series + 300pa head, this will be the end of my collection...or will it?

I just thought I would share this info because I am always wondering what these amps sound like and when you are shopping on Ebay its a bit of a dice roll.

Thanks to all for running this board, its a great Kommunity.

welcome to the kraziness..sounds like you are off to a great start...some of the gang have tried collecting every model in blue, some choose one model, like a K100 2x12 piggyback and then try to get that one model in all of the colors...some guys are just bass players or just guitar players so they chase that..you get the idea...worse yet, some like me like to have a matched pair of whatever..so it's gotta be 2 of whatever.... I also grew up on the plexi models, and early on, I would spend hours at the local music store gazing longingly at the models on the floor..didn't realize at the time that even that store's extensive inventory, wasn't every possible model...but I imprinted his inventory and dreamed of owning several of them...I'm far from the sickest in this group..and mainly have stayed with all black in my collection...but here's my roster:
again, all black unless otherwise stated.
K25 1x12 combo
(2)SC100 2x10
SC100 charcoal
(2) SC100 2x12
SC150 4x10
(2) SC150 4x10 in blue
SC100 1x15 bass combo
(2) K100 2x12 by Ross cabs
K100 guitar head
(2) K200 2x15 cabs
K200 bass head
K200 guitar head
3x12 cab
4x12 cab
Kombo 1 organ
PA200 head
(2) 4x10 columns
(2) 3x15siren cabs
(2) kustom horn
hi freq cab in black
frank head with no port first issue 2x15 cab (this is matched with the hi freq cab)
another frank no port complete with (2) heads and a hi freq cab in cascade.

and ..no...no tears, no holes..just pure tuck n roll....from that 1968 formative era there are a few models I'm missing like a K100 1x15 piggy back bass rig, the 4x12 columns...etc...and someday, maybe...but basically I was just capturing the love I..no.the absolute crush I developed at 13 yrs old....so keep up the good work..go buy more kustoms! n Play Loud! OK ET, running the risk of offending LesS. Actually he wants a 2x12. I am one of those trying to buy a K100 in all colors. So far I have cascade, blue, charcoal, silver and gold. However, the gold is a 1x15 piggyback. I need either a gold, red, or black 2x12. The head needs work but I would swap in a working K100-1 for any of the above 2x12's. The speaker is a CTS but I have 4 old Jensen C15N speakers out of early non port hole 3x15 siren cabinets, and would consider putting in a JBL E140 for an additional price, what it costs me. Unless you have a red K100 with or without speakers. Then I think I would do any of the above and deliver the sucker myself!!!!

The Kustom IV lead amp is pretty much the same amp as the K250 serise.
Any K200 serise amp with selectone is a guitar or a keyboard head if you where still able to ask Kustom about it today, but all k200b heads be they the base line model with no effects or the fully loaded model had the same low end responce so you could play bass thru any of them.
I have a fully loaded K200b head that needs work on that same channel as yours, if I have time at the end of summer to get into mine, may be I will be able to give you a clue as to your problem.

As to your question about the Selectone feature, what it does is it changes the frequency centers of the bass and treble controls, so that you can adjust the controls to work best with your particular guitar or bass. I guess it can be a little subtle. Try each switch position while adjusting the B&T controls to see if you can hear what it does.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Bill, I think it does work and it is sublte, but your suggestion brings it out a lot more.
