K250-1 Bass or Guitar ?? [message #503] Wed, 25 April 2001 13:38 Go to next message

First off, thanks for all the info on the site!. Second, I've just acquired a black K250 Head (no cabinet :( I'm trying to gather info on it so I can figure out what it's worth. (I'm new to the electric guitar world so forgive my ignorance.) How can I tell if this head is a Bass or Guitar head? It has 4 inputs on what appears to be 2 channels. Both channels have 4 knobs: Top: Vol, Bass, a 4 position knob, and Treble (with "pull brite") Bottom: Bol, Bass, Mid, Treble(with "pull brite") There are two blue buttons Power and Polarity. There are 3 jacks in the back, one is labeled "Tape Record", I'm assuming that the other two are the output and the module out. Any other relevant info would be great!

Hi! This K250-1 is for bass,or guitar. With no reverb, it usually gets used more for bass. If you have an effects unit, or foot pedals, it will be a great guitar amp. I have one, ( soon to be 2), and they are great for bass and guitar. They made the model K250-2 reverb and tremelo, and a K250-4 that has fuzz, reverb, and tremelo. they are very nice heads, even though they are Baldwin era Kustoms. If you want to sell yours, let me know.

Cool! Thanks for the quick responce! It soulds like the $50 I paid for it was a steal. I haven't tested it any more than just to hook it up, turn it on and see if I get sound out of the 1st channel. (The cabinet I was using was rated for 100W so I kept the volume just loud enough to hear.) I'll let you know if I decide to sell since it's really more power than I need... Thanks again! -john

Hi, one thing to keep in mind, the bottom input jack on both channels has almost twice as much gain as the top input jack on either channel. They do rock. Don

Yup, Don is right. Use the bottom input on both channels. Buy an A/B/Y switch and go nuts! The 150-1 is excellent for a guitar or bass head too, and they are a little easier on sensitive ears. Huh? What'd ya say? Darn, gotta turn that head down before I go deaf....................
