Hello, I just bought a black kustomhead k250 with a 2x15 cabinet. originally this cabinet was with a k150 head. With the literature on this site I figured that the 150heads went together with 2x12 cabinets so I thougth this 2x15 was good for the 250head.

Now my 2x15 distorts very fast (volume 3 or 4) with the 250head. Are there many different types of 2x15? Could it be they doesnt match?

tnx!

By level 4 volume wise I think you mean about the 11:oo position, that 250 should be pretty loud at that point. If you know your 250 is clean at that level with other speakers, than its time to get a ohm meter and see what resistance you have at the cab jack, 2 8ohm speakers could give you a reading of around 3 ohms if they are wired for 4 ohms, or between 14.2 to 15.4 ohms if they are wired for 16 ohm use. kustom used 16 ohm or 8 ohm speakers. Also someone may have have changed out the original speakers for cheaper ones, or may be one or both are at some degree of being bad.

Are all original kustom 2x15cabs the same wattage?

I'm from holland and here are kustomproduct hard to get. There's one newer kustom 2x15 tolex cab for sale. Does anyone have experience with this newer stuf togheter with a old head?

All kustom 2-15 cabs will take at least 100 watts RMS, kustom did stuff well back then, so It may not be unrealistic to say that the speakers would be good for 60 to 70watts each. But to keep yours in good shape, I would not push them beyond 60 watts RMS each.
