Hi everybody - I just brought home a red K100C8 (2/10 combo) in great condition, but unfortunately, it is missing the back.
I don't have another 2/10 to compare it to, so I really need some guidance in putting this little guy back together correctly. I did get the metal ports, just no wood to put them on..
The seller claims that the original back was NOT covered in naug, but simply painted black. True or False?
And... can I trouble somebody to measure the back of a 2/10 combo, and share the correct port placement and plywood thickness with me? I'll be glad to pay you back ... well, probably never .. But at least we'll be saving a Kustom amplifier, and in the big scheme of things that's what life is really all about anyway. right?
Thank you,
jimm b

Jimm....good work! I love red!....and cascade and gold and charcoal and blue and...... The back should have been covered in red as well.....but the ports would have been black. I know ET has two 2x10s and there are some others out there, so we should be able to get the info you need. Compton has a source for red material and is is a very good match to the original. Congrats for a great find! BC!

Hey Jimm...sorry to take so long..hadn'tchecked the posts lately... I'll get you measurements this weekend... and yes..the back should have been the same red naugha with the ports centered one atop the other with about an inch spacing between them...I'll get the exact numbers...make sure you use a good grade of plywood...these little combos can sound incredible... they are probably the most impressive of the kustoms next to the 2x12 cabs...
I'm also assuming you have the SC series with the plexi flat face..not the later charger/challenger whatever slant face series.. I can't help you on those. check out the literature page if you're not sure what I"m talking about on the Series of amp models...but at the end of the day MAN! a red 2x10...nice catch! it'll make a great presentation on stage...these used to be about the smalles combo out there..but by todays terms they are just the right size...they are almost exactly the same size as my MArshall JCM900 2x12 combo and light enough that the ol back can handle it...the pair that I have are both in black...one is near mint...the other I have regrilled and will be replacing some material on it to make it look real close to clean...that amp has a couple mods to it and is a great player...I am in the process of making it into a hybrid acoustic amp by loading a crossover and a tweeter in it with a swith on the back so I can go from electric to acoustic quickly...I have the speakers and the electronics and have run the amp against them to check it for fidelity..the amp sounds great runing full range..better than these cheesey little acoustic amps that are on the market right now... I have to go well into the $400 range to start getting the equivilent quality and tone....I was going to sell the second 2x10..but once I got them standing side by side running stereo chorus and looking soo kool...well I was lost in love...or lust..or both..who cares...I got it bad!....talk to you later this weekend with some measurements...Play Loud...ET!
