I'm trying to troubleshoot a Kustom Challenger amp. I don't know thw vintage but the SN is 94130. It belongs to my daughter and it was DOA when I received it. No power light, no humming electronics, no tnothing. I'm not a service tech but I have good troubleshooting skills and a volt/ohmeter.
Where do I start?

Welcome to the place.
If there is no sign of life at all, the first place to start is to check the fuse and the ac wiring. Take your ohm meter and hold the two leads to the hot and neutral prongs of the ac plug. Next turn on the amp and see if you get any reading. If the fuse is still intact and the wiring to the power transformer is all as it should be you should get a reading under 100 ohms.
If you get no reading (your meter displays the same as if the leads are not touching anything) you will need to check the fuse. Remove the chassis from the cabinet and look for the fuse, which is soldered in place. Visually inspect it and test it with your meter.
If the fuse is blown, you have a problem with the amp and you will need to troubleshoot the power supply and the power amp. If the fuse is good, then you will need to test the power switch and all of the wiring starting with the ac cord and the internal wiring to the fuse and the internal thermostat.
If you go to the technical section of this site, you will find the schematic for your amp which will help you to trace the ac primary wiring.
